How long can Mittens go before he gives it up?

1. I hate to say it, but
we have a couple of candidates in the same predicament.

6. Actually no we don't - no one has spent so much time and money and has so little to
show for it. If Hillary had lost she might be comparable.

3. That would depend on how much more of his own money he wants
to spend on it. He's rich enough to carry on a 100 million dollar campaign without himself or his accountant breaking a sweat.

10. I agree. He is awful in every respect. Romney is a shit-sandwich.

9. He only lost by 5 and I'd bet he got more GOP votes than McCain did
he's not dead.

13. He is and he just doesn't know it.
Neighboring state. Millions of dollars. Dozens of campaign visits. He's done. Where the hell does he win? Michigan? That's probably McCain territory now. Nobody remembers George Romney. Imagine in Wisconsin if someone ran on the memory of Warren Knowles.

15. I'll give him Utah. I agree, Michigan is not likely for Mittens. It is a much different state than
when his daddy was guv. And Mittens ain't half the man his daddy was anyway.

18. NH was McCain's best state - he beat bush by 19 pts there in 2000
maybe wishful thinking on my part but I don't see this as a crushing loss for Romney. He was only one competitive in IA and NH.

20. Actually Massachusetts was his best state. I think he beat Bush by
26 or something like that. Romney was supposed to win NH by huge amounts earlier. He spent a fortune and got creamed. No Massachusetts candidate has lost NH and won the nomination.

11. If McCain and Huckabee were not so flawed, I'd be writing mittens off.
But he could conceivably come back. Giuliani's done. Obviously so is Thompson.

Right now McCain has to be the favorite.

14. I don't think the Ghoulmeister is done. He did not contest Iowa or NH very seriously.
He is banking on the next round where his national rep will come into play. And it would be good for Democrats to have him win a few primaries to make it a three or four candidate race.

19. Actually he spent a lot of time in NH, just not so much recently.
He is running an idiotic campaign IMO. He could have won NH if he had maintained his effort there instead of this on again off again nonsense.

We disagree but I say he's done. He must win Florida now and he probably won't, last poll I saw there had him behind.

21. Oh, he's very done.
Look all the media attention is away from him and other candidates are going to be picking up his soft support as media focus is on them. Almost no one is passionate about Rudy and he has nothing to naturally fall back on.

12. This is the great treat tonight
We get to see Willard lose but still get his silvers which encourages him to anty up another $ 5 million and get hit again. If he had a total resounding defeat he might quite but these near misses just encourage him. It's like watching some poor insect fly into the window repeatedly - no learning curve. I just hope that he gets strung out all the way to the convention. I suppose hoping that he then puts his last 100 million into a 3rd party run would be too much to ask

This is such splendid torture it should be refined to replace water boarding.
