I am reminded of Brandi Chastain and the US Women's World Cup victory
The US Women had just played their hearts out and had just nailed a historical victory. In her exuberance, Ms. Chastain ripped off her jersey, with sports bra underneath, and flung her arms to the sky in victory.

What did most media outlets talk about? The historical win? The hard fight? The worthy opponents trying their hardest? No. Front and center was a photo of Brandi sans shirt, and commentary of whether or not it was "appropriate."

They couldn't let the women enjoy their victory for a second.

The primary last night wasn't rigged. The exit polls were very accurate. Clinton won NH, just like Senator Obama won IA.

Get over it. Sour grapes are not a healthy drink.

Do what I did when Obama won Iowa: swallow the bitter pill. It was a fair victory.

Hillary Clinton won. Obama won Iowa. I wish Edwards had done better, and I wish Biden and Dodd had stayed in until the bitter end. It's a good group of people, and a HISTORIC group of people.

Let's not make this a Brandi Chastain media moment.

1. WJ on C-span this morning was an exceptional level of sewage
That mealy-mouthed NH Union Leader *correspondent* wouldn't know a clue if it bit him in the ass! And the call in people! All the dopey repukes are allowed to whinge on and on and on - but the Dems with points to make got short shrift and cut off by the Moderator.

If this is a slice of *America* - we are well and truly f*cked.

2. I don't know why, but I'm actually shocked
at the response this morning. Everything from she stole it to the Polling couldn't have been wrong to she's distorting her record to ... oh man, the list goes on and on and on! Did anyone complain like this -- not about the Candidate, but about the win -- when Obama won Iowa?

I shudder to think how the Obama Supporters will handle it should she win big on Super Tuesday, get the Nomination and then win the Election!

If it's still a tin-foil hat bitch-fest from the Obama Camp, DU will be simply unbearable.

5. The election rigging shit really maddened me
I wasn't thrilled about Obama winning Iowa, but what can you do? It's primary season. mI didn't come on here and list tinfoil crap about how SEnator Obama won a rigged caucus. I let him have his "jersey waving" moment. We won. Hillary won. That's it.

3. But it WAS rigged!
Everyone knows Hillary is part of the scheme to bring down America!

The republicans are going to help get her elected and then a couple days after her inauguration, she's going to have the tsunami machine devastate the Eastern seaboard and use that as an excuse to declare marshall law! She will then have herself declared dictator for life and then crown Bush King of Iraq! It's all gonna happen! Really!

9. Hillary won and . . .
congratulations to her. I doubt vote fraud played any role. Michael Whouley and the Shaheen machine were probably a whole lot more important.

But she played the gender card to win. That's wrong and that makes me think less of her. I think the crying game was a ruse to get votes and it worked.

15. Don't agree about either the crying or the gender card
Although, this place and the media were awash with the "crying, weak woman" thing. The woman who asked the question is an Obama supporter.

16. Chastain's upraised arms has been called "The Gesture of Epiphany" in Neolithic goddess depictions.
Does anyone have the picture of one of these? I studied goddess culture in a world art course years ago...Minoan figures featured the goddess with upraised arms, as I recall...

18. People screaming "rigged" on this board cannot be cured
They are sad paranoiacs and really just children. It's not even sour grapes. It's petulant, selfish pouting.

The women of New Hampshire, especially, screamed a resounding NO! to the media misogyny. That's clear enough. The Clinton camp's "style over substance" attacks were remarkably effective as well, as I knew they would be. (Check out my post here http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=3997486&mesg_id=3997515) I happen to disagree with the assessment, but it is an old and culturally resonant argument.

Sometimes, you just lose elections. It happens. The immediate need to scream "Fraud" is a disturbing feature of our current impasse, and it's just sad that it has infected so many on these boards.
