Dear John...
Please don't try to help yourself OR Obama by saying you agree with Obama. You just interjected yourself again into the MLK dust-up saying Hillary was wrong. You come across as mean in some of your choice of words, and then people accuse you AND Obama of "piling on" Hillary. She garners sympathy, which turns into votes, at your expense as well as Obama's. Please let Obama speak for himself or let him "let it pass" (which seems to be the smart thing to do).

1. or you can stop the triangulation
and admit that hillary was wrong and edwards speach was spot on and if hillary looked like a bad person by trying to give credit to a white politician instead of the african american civil rights leaders so be it.

3. Who's triangulating?
I don't think Edwards should get involved with things that should not be continued. Of course Hillary was wrong. But Obama doesn't want to turn his presidency into a "Black" presidency which it looks like Hillary is trying to do. Edwards just ends up hurting Obama (and himself) by giving the impression the guys are ganging up on Hillary.

5. it doesnt matter who gives what impression
hillary was trying to get in on the african american vote by postulating white politicians had a larger hand then they got credit for when in fact most of them had to be dragged kicking and screaming. Hillary was trying to curry favor with african americans because she cannot count on their vote like bill did. It came out very wrong by trying to downplay MLK and others contributions. If JE wants to weigh in on this I think he has a valid point and should be shared. It doesnt matter who side he agrees with because I agree with him.

6. She was not trying to curry favor with Black voters with her original MLK statement. She was trying
Edited on Mon Jan-14-08 01:11 PM by jenmito
to minimize Obama's message of hope and change. (Obama NEVER compared himself to MLK. OTHERS compared him to MLK) And in doing so, she minimized MLK. That angered many people and ever since then she's been trying to "clarify" her remarks. Add that in with all the innuendos about being a drug dealer, that he's a Muslim, etc., and Hillary should lose support of Black people.

2. Agreed. Obama has stayed out of this fracas. Please don't suggest he hasn't.
