3. OK, and in the red state of Oklahoma, how do the Democrats fare against
the republican candidates?

What I am really asking, when was the last time a Democrat won the Presidential election in Oklahoma?

16. Interesting. So after the civil rights act of the 60's which became a reality
because of the pressure exerted by Johnson, the Democrats subsequently lost the South, not the least due to the Nixon, atwater, and eventually rove Southern Strategy

The question is, will the South finally stop voting against its own interest?

NOTE: a lot of people were responsible for the progression of Civil Rights in the U.S.

18. Oklahoma was a very Democratic leaning state and Johnson won it by less
than he won the country by.

8. Carter and Clinton both came close.
Well, Carter did in '76 anyway within 1 or 2. Clinton was within 8 in '96, but that's the closest we've come in a while.

Or something like that.

Oklahoma may not have as many delegates as some more Democratic states, but it has about as many people as Connecticut.

15. You're right
Tuesday 5 February 2008: 38 of 47 delegates to the Democratic National Convention are allocated to presidential contenders based on the results of the voting in today's Oklahoma Presidential Primary. A mandatory 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be allocated National Convention delegates at either the congressional district or statewide level.

25 district delegates are to be allocated proportionally to presidential contenders based on the primary results in each of the State's 5 congressional districts.
CD 1: 5
CD 2: 5
CD 3: 5
CD 4: 5
CD 5: 5
In addition, 13 delegates are to be allocated to presidential contenders based on the primary vote statewide.
8 at-large National Convention delegates
5 Pledged PLEOs

5. Oklahoma is a strange state.
They voted for Clark last time around. Clark was the only candidate besides Kerry to win a state he never lived in.

9. Good. Me likes when Hillary puts on the mantle of invincibility!
It's going to become her political burial shroud if she is not careful.

10. What Obama must do to win Oklahoma
In this red state, Obama needs to use the tactics his campaign is using in Nevada:

23. try a little honesty for a change
his campaign had nothing to do with that. One voluteer did it. When three Clinton volunteer coordinators- one of them highly placed forwarded smear email about Obama being a stealth Muslim, I defended Clinton. And that was a much greater transgression. You? You join the people you howled about- you just have another candidate. Doesn't matter, you're just like those you had such a fit about.

21. I dunno
Oklahoma is an open primary, the survey only questioned Democrats, so its not measuring the Independent and crossover voters.

Edwards has polled well in Oklahoma:

Tulsa World / KOTV Oklahoma Poll conducted by SoonerPoll.com
Mid-date: 12/15/2007

Clinton 34%
Edwards 25%
Obama 15%
Unsure 20%

22. Very bad news for Edwards
This was probably his best chance to win on Super Tuesday based on 2007 polling. This makes winning Nevada even more important. He will need a bounce and then to target a few states to earn a couple of wins. It looks like Missouri is a state they will target and they seem to believe they can turn things around in Oklahoma by campaigning there.
