Does your candidate have a strong military policy?
I'm trying to pick a Primary vote next month and in my National Defense column one finds the following grab bag of dangerous policy. Does your candidate have a stated position on these kinds of things?

Again the Shock Doctorine frame applies, so the nuance/spin/theme/context is fighting the crime eating away at our military.

For those that have read the book Shock Doctrine, the concept should be more obvious now. Pick a campaign issue, I'll see if a Shock Doctrine frame fits. These are the previous posts.

Have any candidates read Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein?

1. The strongest.

Besides this, he has a universal health care program and a way to bring good green jobs back to this nation.

2. I dig the pacifism thing but
That link didn't have anything on vets, theft, posse comitatus, or, well, I'm at a loss for words to describe the last issue other than :puke:.

I know Kucinich is strong on impeachment (I'll get to impeachment during a law or Constitution journal entry). What about Republican convicts like Duke Cunningham? Does he have a strong position on Blackwater etc?

You are the first Kucinich supporter to respond to this series, thanks!

3. I'm not sure of his stands on the issues you listed
this morning I found what I posted. I'm at work now, with limited time on the computer, but I will check and see what else I can find.

I'm sorry that the supporters of other candidates didn't answer your question, which I thought was a very good one to ask. Too few posters are asking questions about issues and substance, and I give you kudos for being one of those few.

6. No rush, I'll be tracking these journal entries thru the Primary.
The other candidate supporters haven't showed up for this post/issue so far but have showed up for other journal entries. It has been educational!

8. Had some time, am on my break, and found this
Kucinich on veteran's issues:

http://www.kucinichonline.com/pdfs/Kucinich_Veterans.pdf

Quotes:

Treating our servicemen and veterans with anything other than honor is not appropriate and must not be tolerated by any US Administration. The families of those in service must no longer be ignored, their needs no longer neglected. The fact that the families of many American service men need food stamps to survive should shame us all. The rights and welfare of the retired and disabled must no longer be an unwanted expense, but instead a responsibility of gratitude that will he honorably satisfied.

As an Ohio Congressman, I've proven my commitment to the wellbeing of all veterans throughout my career. In the 106th Congress, I helped to pass the Veteran's Millennium Health Care Act, HR 2116, which allowed for the expansion of veteran's benefits and long term health care benefits. It also eliminated the establishment of a framework for hospital closures that make it easier for the government to close important and necessary veteran's health care facilities.

I support legislation that provides the necessary services to our nation's veterans. I was a co-sponsor of HR 179, the "Keep Our Promises to Military Retirees Act" to restore health care benefits to military retirees with more than 20 years of service. More recently, I have also become a co-sponsor of legislation, HR 303, to permit retired members of the Armed Forces with over 20 years of service and who have service connected disabilities to receive compensation from the Department.

snip

While I have strongly opposed this war and called for an end to the occupation in Iraq, I am committed to treating its veterans with the utmost respect and dignity, providing all of the benefits and support they need to live comfortable, successful lives. Citizens who have risked their lives to serve their country deserve nothing less.

Note, please, that, as usual, Dennis walks his talk by introducing, sponsoring, and helping pass legislation to help vets.

On my next break I'll check out Dennis's stand on the Constitution.

Thank you for the follow up! It is great to hear that Dennis is honoring vets.

Sometime in the next few days I am planning to journal a 'Does your candidate have a strong position on Constitutional law' thread, for a long list of Bush regime damage that need to be repaired. That'll be an easy one for Kucinich to excel in. :)

4. STRONG enough for me. Since he correctly predicted the outcome of the Iraq Incursion
BTW...some of us have "earned credentials" here, on DU. I'm not putting anyone down,HOWEVER,
Bill Clinton and I were both born on AUGUST 19th (he's older) therefore we share the SAME Draft Lottery#,319; I honored my contract with the Pa. Military College and the U.S. Army (hell! they paid for my college!) Bill? Well, we know all that.

If so, you are of the same age as my brother, an Army "lifer" who served two tours in 'Nam. Thank you for your service.

9. I am so sick of the USA's
militaristic culture. John Wayne was a fucking phony and not every SOB who wore the uniform is a hero. WAR,WAR,WAR. Eternal war for eternal peace. What's wrong with this picture.

12. I got a plan for that too-
The defense industry has an infrastructure as large as the Federal Govt. They are everywhere. So here is my solution. If they can build planes, why can't they build trains? Think of all the engineering brainpower devoted to the war machine. Why can't we turn that power to doing something that will benefit the entire population? Think of all the transportation problems that could be solved. We could have train and bus stations and bus stops in every town and city and hamlet and village. Make the trains and buses diesel powered and run them on bio fuels. Farmers can grow fuel oil crops and people can get jobs in the transport system. Think of the reduction in the need for foreign oil. We could tell the Saudis and the south American tin pots to kiss our collective asses. Another added bonus we can get rid of the war machine and stop slaughtering U.S. troops in shit holes like Iraq and Afghanistan.
