Obama picking up support in Harlem
Obama picking up support in Harlem

By KAREN MATTHEWS

NEW YORK (AP) -- Standing in front of the Harlem office building where Bill Clinton has his post-presidential office, Audrey Quantano said she has supported the former president and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton "for a very long time."

But Quantano has a problem.

"I am tossed between Hillary and Obama," she said Monday. "I'm split right now. ... I've got my list of pros and cons with both of them."

New York's Democratic presidential primary Feb. 5 was once considered a cakewalk for Clinton, who has represented New York since 2001.

But after Sen. Barack Obama's victory in the Iowa caucuses and his close second-place finish in the New Hampshire primary, some see him as a viable candidate here as well.

2. What the Clintonians don't seem to understand is that
this is really bad news for Hillary. The Clintons believed they had a lock on this constituency and would win the black vote in general. They blew it.

5. I didn't mean the Clintons themselves
I meant her supporters here. But yeah, I agree with you that the Clintons know they're in trouble and that explains quite a bit.

8. So now everything is off limits? I don't think so, but nice try.
If a preferred candidate is doing well, to post about it is not negative.

6. Yes. Up until a couple of weeks ago, Clinton had a huge lead
over Obama among African American voters.

9. "cakewalk" is a racially charged code-word.
Obviously, therefore, Clinton is a racist.

11. Why should I pay attention to what one person says?
This is being reported by the media but the media can't be trusted. Especially, if the ones reporting don't have experience and knowledge on the workings of campaigns. Or they have an ax to grind or are biased.

People forget that this election is not like any election we have ever had before. The time frame of the primaries and the tools are different. This is also the first time since before Nixon that we have serious competition on both sides for the office.
