The Word of the Living God
"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."

http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Huckabee_Amend_Constitution_to_meet_Gods_0115.html

So here's what we know about Huckabee - he's as fucking crazy as he is fucking stupid. He may be the one candidate besides Fred Thompson who would be worse for America than George W Bush. Why?

First, he's blatantly anti-Constitutional (obviously - he wants to change it). Beyond that he's unAmerican. Screw the Melting Pot. Screw the separation of church and state. Screw the first Amendment. Screw religious tests for elected leaders. If you're not a Christian you are not a real American. Scratch that, if you're not the "right" kind of Christian, you are not a real American.

Second, he's historically incorrect. The Word of God has been changed, altered, mistranslated, misconstrued and misread for centuries. Jesus didn't speak English, a fact only Mel Gibson and a handful of the "smarter" zealots seem to recognize. The "Word of God", or "Bible", went from Hebrew, to Greek, to Latin, to German, to French, to Spanish, to English (not in that order of course). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible_translations.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_the_Bible#Translation_issues
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible_errata

The New Testament was "edited" as some gospels were edited and deleted, while some were lost. I won't go too deep into this, because it's a big topic on its own, but look up the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Canonization process, the missing gospels of Mark and Mary Magdalene to get a flavor. These are controversial topics of course, so I don't want to claim they are true, but certainly they raise a lot of questions. http://www.gotquestions.org/canon-Bible.html

So what I'm getting at is that it should be crystal clear that Huckabee is the worst possible GOP candidate. He's ideologically more insane than Bush and even less intellectually curious. For all the bitching we all do, myself included, about the other Democratic candidates, they must be supported should they win the nom. I will vote Edwards. I will vote Hillary. I will get my friends out to the polls too. We cannot allow ourselves to suffer through another 4 years with a messianic potato head in the White House.

the republic party.

2. If the U.S. Constitution had been revised as much as the Bible has, we wouldn't recognize it.
The most revised book in the history of the world is the Bible.

Ripped off allegories, re-written history after the fact (most of "The Prophets"), stolen religious concepts, revised, altered and completey deleted texts and false attributions.

In fact, it's the most organic hodge podge in the history of literature.

Compared to the Bible, the U.S. Constitution is more of a virgin than Mary ever was.

3. Huckabee is far from the worst
Guliani is the worst, followed closely by McCain.

Romney and Huckabee are the most appealing.

6. well, for their side
I'm not saying appealing to me. But if we HAD to have a Republican, I'd take either of those two over Guliani or McCain.

Guiliani would have the entire country under survalence and McCain would have us in Iraq for 200 years.

9. I'd vote for Paul, were I a repug
Huck will allow witch-burnings in the town square, while Mitt will take every dollar that isn't nailed down, and then get his hammer out.

At least Paul would drain the gov't to their ideal of "drownable in a bathtub"- Hard for the gov't to make wars, spy, torture, etc when the SS isn't getting their regular paychecks

11. paul wouldn't do anything
he'd bring the government to a halt, like Clinton and Gingrich did in the mid-90s.

He would be the most ineffective president ever.

15. Why do you think my sarcasm?
Although at this point, I'd much rather have no gov't, than the one we have.

Serious.

5. I seem to remember the Living God saying
"My kingdom is not of THIS world". And that wasn't going to change until He came back and made it so. As far as I know, that hasn't happened yet. So what's the Huckster talking about??

7. Holy fucking shit!
This guy is scary.

I don't know how any Dem. can think that we have candidates that even come close to the horrors that the Republicans are offering up. Obama, Clinton, and Edwards are all gifts from the most beautiful Goddess compared to these guys.

Then yes, it is very nice. Nice in that "I get what I want or I will burn you all" sort of way.

22. If Christians take 2 seconds to realize the ramifications of this..
And think about "What if these were the thoughts of a candidate running who didn't share my religious views, and wished to change the constitution to reflect the views of (Insert any religion here: Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Buddists, etc.) then I would be horribly offended".

If they thought like this for TWO SECONDS they would realize why this guy is NOT the one to vote for. YOU CAN NOT LEGISLATE MORALITY OR RELIGION.. thank GOD (or whoever) that we had founding fathers who understand this. Why do we - 300 years later not grasp this concept?

Because many religious people are dumb sheep who follow blindly to whatever their congretation says, because they feel that challanging it is akin to challanging God.

And THAT is how the Roman Empire was built my friends.

16. Never quote reality to a fundamentalist....
facts and the realities of the world around us are as immaterial as the constitution when compared to the TRUTH...
