Poll question: How Much Influence Has DU Had In Who You Support For President?
Has visiting this site helped you at all in making your selection on who you support for the democratic nomination?

If so, how much?

Has it made you more knowledgeable in what the candidates support or oppose?
Has it made you more hardened in your support of your candidate?
Have the various discussions here turned you away from a candidate you might have supported otherwise?

1. DU has had a slight impact
But probably not the way the majority of DU seems to have wanted.

5. Yes, very slight. DU is a small microcosm within a tiny air bubble.
DU NEVER reflects the majority opinion of the cross section of America!

7. actually
it was researching Hillary while finding myself defending her on DU, that caused me to see her more clearly.

I know far more about Hillary from my DU induced research than I did a year ago.

12. Miracles do happen on DU although..not often enough..

you're right about the informational highway it provides enjoining people the opportunity to judge the candidates on their past, present and the prospects of delivering on the fruits of their production in the future for themselves. Strangely enough, the problem lies in two people reading the same words and coming away with diametrically opposed opinions of what they've just read. The dynamics of DU have always been a paradoxical phenomenon to me.

2. if it weren't for the people I met in DU in 2005

I might not know who he is. I never heard of him until Andy brought him up one day.
DU didn't influence me to support him though.

The info here has helped me make an informed decision, the good and the bad.

9. Same here
I learn what all the latest buzz is on the candidates and then find sources to either discount or validate the buzz. I find that useful. On DU I'm challenged to think critically about every negative thing said about a candidate.

6. Zero in who I support. Plenty in who I no longer support.
Poll needs to be re-worded. I did come into this primary with the candidate I strongly supported in 2004. Now I have a much clearer understanding of why that person does not deserve my support in this primary season.

10. Honestly, there's no way to know how 4+ yrs might have shaped my opinions
on different things. I don't think it's made me support anyone, but it has influenced me to NOT support certain people.

11. While I've learned a lot here-
I came to DU decided. And no one but my chosen candidate can change my mind. But, I am forever grateful to DU for what I've learned here, from both the people I agree with, and the people with whom I disagree.

14. About the time I had chosen Edwards as my candidate a few months ago
I also found D.U.. I have appreciated the large support of Edwards here, with the best behaved supporters of any of the candidates (my opinion, and myself excluded) and I have learned a LOT about the other candidates and the phenomena surrounding them.

Cheers to ALL D.U.ers! :toast:

15. It has shown me the candidate supporters with whom I don't want to associate
And since I am still studiously uncommitted, none of the supporters who post here have help me make a firm choice. Instead, I almost feel a need to be against whoever they're for, not matter who it is.
