Hillary claims victory in Michigan
Edited on Wed Jan-16-08 12:17 AM by Quixote1818

From NBC's Chuck Todd
The Clinton campaign decided to claim victory in Michigan, via press release, despite the fact that no delegates were at stake nor were her two chief rivals on the ballot. :wtf: :eyes:

52. Some of us predicted she would do this. Also, CNN ran a banner prominently last night that read:
"Clinton Wins Michigan". At one point on the MSNBC coverage, before I had to turn it off, Matthews blantly said: "She is the first woman nominee of a major political party." If people can't see that orders have come down from on high, then people aren't seeing much. We also heard this morning yet another contrived explanation for why Obama didn't win NH - "people in NH turned on the debate and he was boring."

2. Check this out
“Tonight Michigan Democrats spoke loudly for a new beginning," said campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle in a statement sent to reporters shortly after the polls closed in the state. "You spoke out for an economy that would honor the middle class, not punish it. You spoke out for a president who will fight to create good paying jobs at a time when so many families are struggling to make ends meet.

"You spoke out for an end to the war in Iraq. You spoke out for a quality, affordable health care system that works for all Americans. For that, we thank you. Your voices matter. And as president, Hillary Clinton will not only keep listening, but will make sure your voice is always heard."

But obviously you must think that the voters in Michigan deserve to be ignored.

39. Do you really think the voters of Michigan are that stupid?
They are not blaming the candidates for what happened. Give them more credit that that. They know what Hillary was up to and that is why so many showed up to vote against her. They saw right through what she was doing. Then for her to claim victory at the end? Holy fucking shit is that pathetic!

Based on the exit polling:

Hillary - 46%
Obama - 35%
Edwards - 12%
Kucinich - 2%
Richarddson -1%

Hillay is going to lead that poll with no problem, because the people polled came out to vote for her. I'm just surprised that over 40% of voters were willing to go vote AGAINST her on a cold, snowy day.

17. Sorry, it doesn't work that way. Who would take the time to show up and vote
when your candidate wasn't even on the ballot? The answer is almost no one and the fact that 40% didn't vote for Hillary is stunning.

20. The uncommitted vote was a campaign to protect delegates for JE and Obama
should Michigan be seated. Which is a good thing. I'd be much more worried about losing Michigan in the general if people hadn't bothered to come out if they weren't voting for Hillary.

56. Except a lot more people would have shown up to vote
if everyone was on the ballot. Those showing up to vote Uncommitted were HIGHLY motivated voters to express their disgust with Clinton. Add in those who like Obama, but only wanted to vote FOR him, and that would not be the result.

they were too busy kissing the ass of Iowa. Senator Clinton at least kept her name on the ballot and chose not to dis~enfranchise the voters of Michigan. Obama and Edwards should have thought about the people of MI instead of dissing them as they did.
