8. You don't live in MI, right?
There was a lot of confusion amongst voters, people writing in when they shouldn't have, etc. Uncommitted=Obama and Edwards on DU, but I knew a TON of people who had no clue what was going on. To be the only frontrunner on the ballot, and the candidate with the highest name recognition in a state neglected by candidates and get 55%? That isn't a loss, but it sure isn't a victory.

22. Someone also reported that there were robocalls saying the Dem
primary was cancelled, so there may be others who didn't even try to vote.

2. why is it not good at all?
She can still win with 20% of the black vote as long as she gets 45% of the white vote.

her defeating Obama 2:1 if all the candidates were in the race.

I like how I can see results by county.

Surprised by the numbers in some traditionally conservative Repub counties

18. check the exit polls, those are more accurate...
Seems that some counties had trouble recording those "uncommitted" votes.

12. The spinning for "uncommitted" is pretty comical
Edited on Wed Jan-16-08 12:11 AM by Kurt_and_Hunter
Hillary did not campaign.

"Uncommitted" did campaign... there were radio ads.

7% Democratic turn-out.

She won the exit polling vs. Obama and Edwards comfortably.

So the horror here is that 3.5% of Michigan Dems favored someone other than Hillary, and 3.5% went for her...

in a 4-way race.

Shocking!!!

16. Uncommitted isn't in the MSM day in and day out.
Hillary had plenty of exposure in Michigan.

And, FWIW, Granholm was campaigning against Democrats voting "uncommitted"

21. By that reasoning...
By that reasoning, Gary Hart and Paul Tsongas would have done poorly in urban areas because they lost the urban vote to another Democrat.

Lots of people voted uncommitted because their favorite candidate was not on the ballot. That's what people do.

It does not follow from that that Hillary Clinton would do poorly in urban areas.

Mike Dukakis lost many urban areas to Jesse Jackson by giant margins, and went on to win those same votes in the general, even while Dukakis was getting killed in the suburbs.

Obama lost all large cities in New Hampshire by big margins. Obama won urban areas in Iowa by big margins.

It's a Democratic primary race... nobody gets 100%.

Edited on Wed Jan-16-08 12:47 AM by Kristi1696
And only 51% in Oakland County. That's very interesting. That either means one of two things:

1). Blacks in Pontiac came out strongly and voted against her
2). Your average UAW blue collar guy is voting against Hillary (that would be devastating for her)

Neither one of those are good scenarios for her in a general election.

Plus the people who would've voted against her, but voted for Romney instead?
