Obama wins Nevada -- for real.
firstread.msnbc.msn.com —

While Clinton did edge out Obama in the popular vote by 6%, she only did so by capturing the populous Las Vegas area. Obama won broader support statewide, especially in the more rural areas that Democrats usually flounder in, and thus earned more state delegates than Clinton. Obama is now two delegates ahead of Clinton, and closest to nomination. Billary knows this as well...

12. What kind of magic world do you live in, where facts don't matter?
Unless Obama drops out before the covention, she will get 12 delegates from Nevada.

19. And they'll decide on Obama.
And Clinton's gonna win Iowa's delegates too because they'll choose to support her as their best bet now, right?

29. you are not telling the truth
Delegates are bound by Caucus results, unless the candidates have changed.

Obama 13

14. Why is it against DU rules?
I know plenty of people who use it and they aren't right wing.

I guess you haven't noticed, but there's a bit of antipathy towards Hillary in the Democratic Party.

5. Guess you loved the Bush/Gore decision as well
after all why should the popular vote matter.
In fact, lets give more representatives to Alaska than to New York for example. Its a bigger state. So what if the population is smaller

13. This is a strawman, and shows an extreme misunderstanding of the Bush Gore Decision
What was in play was counting the votes in Florida in order to give Gore an electorial college victory.

16. I didn't mean the court decision
I meant that Bush 'won' electoral college and Gore won popular.

31. the Popular vote does matter, but it is not everything
Edited on Mon Jan-21-08 12:08 PM by JackORoses
That is why we have a Senate. Otherwise California would decide everything the US does.

Same thing in Nevada. Delegates are weighted so someone in Reno or Elko has as much of a say as someone in Las Vegas.

That is why Obama gets more delegates. He had more statewide appeal.

15. Obama's campaign people are good
This is the same tactic they used in NH, where they work hardest in the smaller areas in order to meet or exceed Hillary's delegate counts by winning more precincts.

If Hillary tries to match that effort she exposes herself to losing the larger precincts.

Smart plan, takes a lot of foresight and math.

24. I don't know how you find Hillar up 55.

Obama:

16 (Iowa) + 9 (NH) + 13 (NV) = 38 pledged delegates

Clinton:

15 (Iowa) + 9 (NH) + 12 (NV) = 36 pledged delegates

Withholding superdelegates, Obama is up 2 delegates.

32. Please note the 'sidebar' article as well
Republicans Switch, Fatten Dem's Numbers....

And before you say it, no, I don't believe for a single second they will stay with the party to vote for a Democrat in the general election.
