For the most part- I have to agree. I think both Obama and Edwards are hitting on that vibe. Margaret Carlson disagreed.

But the truth is, that's what we need. Clintonism, in the LONG run, fucked our country up badly. Our leadership needs to act with more character and look more toward the future.

12. Actually, cobs only look rough. They're quite soft, hence their use when toilet paper was scarce.

2. Well, I would have thought that whoever wins the nomination
will need all the Dem votes he/she can get.

I think writing off the supporters of one of the Dem candidates is a recipe for putting a Repub in the White House.

Plus I have been a Dem fighting the good fight for many years. I don't like being dissed just because I voted for the Dem who won in 1992 and 1996. In my opinion that Dem was a lot more liberal than Obama.

However, I will vote for Obama if he wins the nomination. I may even vote for him in the CA primary if his supporters stop being so obnoxious.

3. One of my most vivid and recurrent fantasies is about Pat Buchanan. In this
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 10:53 PM by Old Crusoe
fantasy, Pat is wandering aimlessly in a vast tundra. He stumbles with frequency, swearing under his breath lest his God strike him for blasphemy were he to cry aloud.

His department store clothes are soiled and tattered.

Cold wind rips across the prairie. Ice pellets strike his skin. Ice gathers in his shoes and on his face. His thoughts are incoherent. He is desperate and bloated and stained with the dampness of roots, resembling a cross between Dennis Hastert and Bigfoot.

From a remote venue -- say my basement -- a lever is pulled, lighting a series of lights on a control panel.

Some minutes later, a giant cargo plane flies over Pat's path in the tundra, dumping several hundred metric tons of dildos on Pat, burying him alive.

Back in Washington, the McLaughlin Group wonders where Pat is and why he hasn't shown up for work, and, losing patience and interest, replace him with Mel Gibson.

The end.

13. I'm seeing this animated...
old-school Monty Python-style...

and above and beyond the visuals, the whole scenario is just plain, old hilarious.

I'm actually laughing out loud every time I read it. Well done! :)

20. Hi, LowerManhattanite. Monty Python -- those people are so fun.
Their humor, for me, just seems to come out of nowhere. I liked MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL, but if you really pressed me, I'd probably have to go with LIFE OF BRIAN.

21. mzmolly, a warm hi to you and in so saying it gives me the opportunity
to say how much I like the quotation in your signature field -- and also the picture of the director of VERTIGO, one of the great film masterpieces.

I hope all's well your way.

10. The DLC is there and in control. Obama will follow their
philosophy. Run the Clintons out with a rail and nothing
changes. Obams is smoking something if he for one minute
DLCism is alive and well. AL Fromm has said I am proud
of both our candidates and he sure as hell did not mean
Edwards.

Clintonism is a mere play on words. Define Clintonism.

11. Pat Buchanan has been right about many things this past decade, despite himself
And this is no exception. Except it's not Clintonism. It's Bush-Clintonism. The only differences in the last 28 years have been the face of the idiot behind the podium. The agenda of growing global corporatism at any cost has remained the same.

14. Pat Buchanan is a blowhard
who was trying to stir up enough muck tonight to make the Democratic Party look bad. I have heard him for years, and he is often right on target. But tonight he was a pure Republican shill. Joe Scarborough even laughed at his pitiful assessment of the situation.

19. Obama won a resounding and historic victory tonight. Not even HRC's lack of
a concession speech by, IMO, COWARDLY spiriting off out-of-state can detract from the fact that ... as your DLC Clintonian operative Begala would quip, "Obama beat HRC in SC like a bad piece of meat." As a result, HRC showed her arrogance by IGNORING the truth ... why not? The Clintons, like The Bushes, MAKE THEIR OWN RULES.

Face it, Hillary may PRESENTLY be in Nashville but "Hillary's got NO Elvis." ;)

Nothing that Bill Clinton or the rest of the DLC and surrogates do, you can't FORCE The American People to like OR trust her.
