Hi guys,
I'm posting on here because, frankly, I've been gone for so long that my posting rights have apparently been revoked.
Just to clarify, I still volunteered for candidates, but I stopped coming in here for my daily fix because I became somewhat depressed about having a Monkey for a president (TWICE)....
But I'll be honest in saying that I never expected to see, coming back, what I've read in the last hour on the boards.
I am in favor of a candidate but in the interest of remaining neutral I'll withhold who it is...
I know it must seem like I'm full of shit coming in here after being MIA for two and a half years and preaching about infighting, but truly, I never expected to see Democrats tearing at each others' throats...
Over what? The right to choose between a black man and a woman for president?
My God! This is what we've wanted all our lives as Democrats....to BE ABLE to choose someone who we, in our rhetoric, demand be given the opportunity to win.
Since it seems apparent that John Edwards is most likely not going to get the nomination I'll say this:
Here, we are, given the opportunity, No! given NO CHOICE BUT to make a historic selection and what do we do with it? We fight about which is the more revolutionary candidate.
After everything I've seen in the last few weeks I'm hoping against hope that those supporters of either camp are not past the point of no return and that they still feel that they can support the eventual nominee.
I'm not stupid. I know that in this atmosphere my words will move no one from their currently entrenched position. Flame me, call me what you will, but I hope that come the convention you at least remember one sentence, one word of what you read here tonight and it moves you to do the right thing.
After all, I can tell you from experience that no-one was more behind their candidate in 2004 than I was, but ultimately I did what I thought was right and Voted Kerry on Election day.
That's all I've got.
Mike
