My own personal theory about Edwards withdrawal
I think that it was the Lawrence O'Donnell argument - that he would forever be perceived as the white guy who impeded a "historical" candidacy - a minority male or a female.

The irony is so apparent - the candidate in this election who really carried the issues of the under-represented and the poor happened to be a white male.

Oh, well.

1. He called him
"a loser" let's get that one straight...there were signs leading up to this, starting the last 2 weeks or so Phoebe-one headline read; Edwards Doesn't Expect To Win Any Primaries...that one pretty much made ME and my wife switch OUR support from Edwards to Obama with yesterdays' Fla. vote

2. That's the irony for sure...
...and I do believe there is likely a lot to what you say - that Edwards didn't want to be the guy who stopped a woman or AA from getting elected. (even though Edwards was who is best for the country - and for women/miniorites).

I had written previously here about how Edwards - ironically the white guy, would likely do more to advance the interests of women and minorities than Obama or Clinton would. It is indeed ironic.

3. my take
Edited on Wed Jan-30-08 07:57 PM by madrchsod
he knew he could`t win and it was best to leave now before the "big day". also i think he decided it was`t worth being away from his family if there was`t a chance to win the nomination.

i`m sad to see him go.dennis and john are the progressives of the party. this the day the progressive wing of the democratic party lost to the corporations who fuel the campaign and our government.

jesus i have to read my crap before i post it...
