24. Here are some links:
Mediamatters on MSM covering for Rezko scandal
http://mediamatters.org/items/200706140007

And studies show Obama gets almost twice as much positive coverage as Hillary & that Hillary gets 2.5 times as much negative coverage.
http://concernedjournalists.org/first-look-coverage-2008-presidential-campaign

And here is Rush Limbaugh and others praising Obama

54. Nice selective clipping.
You pick the Rezco story that is old and "there is no wrong doing."

Hillary has so much baggage, it's no surprise she gets negative press. Fred Thompson got the second most positive coverage. How did that work out?

And them limpballs says that Obama and Huckabee gave "inspirational speaches" after Iowa, and that's supposed to mean that the RW is pushing them? Yeah, OK. Maybe you forgot "halfrican american."

Get a grip. Your candidate is a disaster for the Democratic party. You have to live with it.

67. Spin Spin Spin. I did not selectively clip.... show me a study that shows differently.
The question was not *how much* the media's positive coverage helps, but whether they *give* positive coverage - Old Man Thompson is irrelevant.
Hillary will win the GE. Obama wouldn't break 40% in the popular vote.

49. Are they?
I don't watch RW media much, but I'd be sort of surprised if they're giving it much air time.

But if they are, maybe it's because it hurts both of them to their audience. Yeah, it makes Obama look arrogant, rude, and petty. But it makes Hillary look weak, which is one of the things that will keep Republicans from voting for her, or get them out to vote against her if McCain is their nominee.

Edited on Thu Jan-31-08 12:23 PM by Gman
He has one chance and one chance only to fix it. If Obama has an ounce of sense, he'll go out of his way to shake her hand when they debate in California. If not, he will piss off every single woman in the country and he'll be political dead meat. I'm serious. That one moment will determine if he will be the next president or not. Obama better be wise if he knows what's good for his campaign.

8. Reason #1: They know Obama's going to lose
Edited on Thu Jan-31-08 12:10 PM by alcibiades_mystery
The more they pump him up, the more it deflates his supporters when he does lose. And that will depress Dem and independent turnout in the general.

Reason #2: They hate the Clintons. Hate 'em. Just hate 'em.

Reason #3: ratings. The truth is that Hillary has the race in the bag, but nobody watches a game when the score is 47-3. So they're gonna milk the pretend horserace for as long as possible.

29. You got it.
They know the republican audience is not going to vote for either of them, and hope that by showing overt support of Obama they can stampede Dems over to Hillary, because we could NEVER back someone that THEY support.

Obama and Hillary are very similar except in one aspect - the right HATES Hillary with a deep abiding passion and would turn out to vote for a three-day dead oyster over her. Obama, they might figure they could put up with until '12, if they are not inspired by their own candidate.

Obama is the one they know they can beat. I wrote about Hannity and Rush pushing Obama over a month ago. Even today they still rail about how horrible a person Hillary is and how mistreated Obama is by Hillary. To be fair though, since McCain's win in Florida Rush is has been a bit too despondent to beat up on Hillary very much. Hannity doesn't miss a beat.

68. Not enough choices. My Thug friends say he's a decent man
and they despise Hillary. They know Hillary will beat McCain. He really flubbed the debate last night. Hillary will crush him in a similar debate scenario.

They know Barack is not demonic the way Hillary is. He won't demonize and demagogue them - so they won't mind working with him if they lose the election, which right now they believe they will.

They know it will be extremely ugly for the country if Hillary is elected. The Clintons' recent actions are just the tip of the iceberg of things to come. E.g., more scandals if he's in close proximity to the White House. Bill's undisclosed financial ties while serving an unelected 3rd term as co-president.

It's about personalities, not policies. They don't see any difference between Barack and Hillary in the policy arena.

some of the conservatives and moderates I know genuinely like him.

That's right, they like him!

He's a powerful orator, he's damned likeable, and he's bringing up issues even the "fiscal Republicans" admit need to be addressed, like health care.

What's especially cool about Obama is that he manages this without selling out his base, us, by pulling a Lieberman.

He's a true leader - something America has lacked for years.
