Why exactly does the MSM want Obama as the nominee?
It's been quite clear from their actions (or rather, non-action) that the MSM wants Obama as the nominee.

They have failed to examine his record, and failed to ask him the necessary questions about his record, his inconsistencies, etc.

The MSM has been salivating at creating a horserace, and they've been very successful at it.

So why exactly does the MSM want Obama as the nominee?

And the answer is not Obama but certainly not Hillary. It's an old game that's they've honed to perfection.

12. the msm is the proaganda machine for the right-wing. They always have been and always will be
Bush won against Gore because of the media. Bush won against Kerry because of the media. Obama will win against Clinton because of the media. They lie and twist and distort causing people to run in fear as directed by the msm.

I believe that Obama is a losing candidate in the general. They want Obama v. McCain.

21. Agreed Evergreen Emerald
That Hillary is still leading in the national polls v Obama is a testament to her resilience and her supporter's loyalty. Most of us can clearly see that the Tweetys and Russerts of the M$M are attempting to "GORE" her much like they did Al Gore and Kerry before her. Of course they are still on the Obama bandwagon but the about-face will be swift and dramatic should Obama win the nomination. McCain will be the next president should they succeed in choosing our candidate.

13. Fresh story, easy story, pretty story, fad story...
The Obama candidacy is the easiest to cover. It is the freshest, so there is new material. It is the easiest, because of the slogans and the simple (thought free!) market appeal being made. It is a fad story, because it has set certain demographic segments "on fire!!"

If Obama wins, newer journalists will be able to write about him on equal footing with the old war horses. Obama has no back story (or at least no back story one of today's "journalists" would be able to discern). He sprang fresh from a snow bank. No history. But if you want history, just read his book!

The old war horses want fresh hay, but they also want a fresh start themselves. The old war horses were disgraces to journalism in the Clinton and Bush era. They want to make the whole thing go away and have a fresh, sunny story to tell between sips of coffee.

17. Two reasons:
He's tops in fundraising. More campagin coffers = more media buys.

He's interesting. When they show Obama, or Britney Spears, or that missing blonde, people tune in to watch.

This is the MSM bottom-line agenda: More viewers, more ad revenues. That explains the war, the corporate favor, the shock-style journalism, the snubbing of Edwards, the sudden Democratic favor - pretty much every insideous motive is tied to revenues and ratings.

20. Why do farmers fatten up turkeys?
The GOP and its wholly owned subsidiary, the MSM, do their dirty work by "defining" our candidates with lies and misleading reporting. They cannot do this to Hillary in the GE, since she has already BEEN defined -- for good or ill -- by past assaults from the MSM and GOP.

The idea of "defining" is to destroy the reputation of the democratic nominee. They have done this to virtually every democratic nominee this century, including FDR and Truman, and only the terminally naive don't know they are planning to do it again, when the time is right. Right now, they're fattening Obama for the kill.

The MSM and GOP have buckets and buckets of slime ready to sling at Obama -- and they will, but only after Hillary is already out of the way.
