The purpose of the superdelegate system was to make sure a Ron Paul-like person, a poltician whose views were so far out of the mainstream of the party, would never have a chance of getting elected.
But we are beyond that now. Both BO and HRC are both great candidates who represent what the Democratic party should stand for.
The superdelegate system is counterproductive in this election. It puts in the hand of elected officials power that only the people of the United States should have. As we all know, these superdelegates - congressmen, elected officials, etc - are not immune to special interest money, bribes, promises, etc.
I urge Chairman Dean - take the power out of the superdelegates' hands and let the people decide who should be the candidate.
If not, and if the superdelegates ultimately decide whom will be elected, I predict a GOP win in November.
