Wes Clark cancels Ohio appearance
Hey, to everyone who was looking forward to hearing the General speak at the Montgomery County (Dayton) Frolic-for-Funds event tonight, he's canceled his appearance, thanks to that little snowstorm we've had here in southwestern Ohio.

:-(

Hopefully, he'll be back soon...

Here is the official email sent out to Frolic-for-Funds-goers:

Due to inclement weather in Ohio, General Clark will not be able to appear tonight at the Montgomery County Democratic Party's annual "Frolic for Funds".

We apologize for the inconvenience. Wes Clark looks forward to seeing you on his next trip to Ohio.

Best regards,

The Office of General Wesley Clark

2. While I'm very sorry for the Ohio Dems and Clarkies,
I'm very glad he's not trying to fly in bad weather. In fact, I'd rest easier if he and Kerry both just stayed home & phoned it in until November. I trust those Bush Bastards about as far as I can throw 'em.

11. He'll be back!!!! Ya gotta believe!!!!
The annual Frolic-for-Funds is a great party, and it's such a joy to be surrounded by hundreds of like-minded kindred souls. :-)

I don't think I'll head up there after all; the weather is just awful, and without Wes, it's hard to cough up the unusually large donation ($125.00).

I'll be happy to give the Montgomery County Dems my support in blood, sweat and tears through November, though, of course!!

Sorry, Cosmo... and any other Ohio Dems looking forward to the General's appearance tonight. :-( Better safe than sorry, and it's likely a good idea to cancel that flight of his.

20. Sorry about what happened!
If I had tickets to see Wes, & it was cancelled, I'd be SO disappointed.

Hopefully the event will be rescheduled!

25. I think Democratic pols shouldn't go anywhere unless they are in a
convoy of armored SUV's. Maybe they could borrow some from Arnold?

Taking a plane anywhere while this administration is in power can't be a good idea.

Hey. Only kidding. Our leaders would never do something so underhanded. Its not like Clark is an Iraqi or something.

12. Meetings?? What kind of meetings? Hmmm.
Where? What for? Who with? How long? ...Man, I REALLY HATE not knowing what the hell he's doing or what he's up to. I wish he would post an itinerary on his web site so I can keep my eye on him!

13. From the blog
Posted by our friend CosmoKramer:

The plane is a tiny Citation, and the pilot (and the Kerry campaign) is worried about getting stuck overnight. We are working on commercial flights, but so far, nothing is working out. Apparently, the General is in meetings in NYC all day tomorrow and cannot miss a minute of those events, so the Kerry campaign is not chancing it by sending him to Dayton first.

The snow storm has passed, as has most of the snow. I could walk barefoot down the street and not have cold toes! It is warm outside!

Arrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhh!

15. interesting
with today's technology they could have easily made long distant contact. but the fact that he has to be there and they aren't taking any chances of him missing it shows it must be really important.

16. Awwwww Cosmo.
I trust that the Wes folks hold the General's safety as their top priority. I agree that we Buckeyes are used to a little more, and less melty, snow than this, but I'm sure he canceled for a good reason.

I'm disappointed too, but Ohio is the Battleground Supreme, and he, and other high-powered, fightin' Dems, will visit us from here until November. We'll see our General again!!!

:D

17. I think it might be more the freezing rain and wind
along the flight paths than the snow on the ground that is the problem. I wouldn't want our Wes to be in a plane flying past my house at the moment.

THAT sounds VERY important, doesn't it? KERRY can't chance Wes not being there? Arrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh! Is right!

What the hell is going on in NY tomorrow??? Any NYer's out there??? Do you know??

21. Maybe fundraising?
I read recently that Clark had brought his biggest supporters together to meet with Kerry, & I think it was in New York.

23. Yeah, probably fundraising
I think that some of Clark's heaviest donors were in the NYC area. Probably doing some introductions, etc.

We can't afford to take any chances, whether they be natural or rightwing based.

I was just looking for the report on it. I had been so looking forward to hearing about it.

Poor Cosmo, poor Jen. I'm sorry it didn't work out.:grouphug:

I'm glad that Wes is safe at least. I'm already not coping with his not getting the nomination. I don't know what I'd do if something were to happen to him.

24. The weather here in NYC is terrible, too, AND..
It's St. Patrick's Day, one of the worst traffic days in the city because of the Parade, which only a hurricane would prevent.

But that's ok, he has to have those very important private meetings with me, uh... I mean some people... ;)

I'm so sorry about Kramer, that really sucks, I do hope Clark reschedules this and meets with them soon.
