"That's the guy we want hehehehehe" Karl Rove's last words...

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/news/archive/2004/03/16/politics1907EST0753.DTL
SNIP..."Former Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean said Tuesday that President Bush's decision to send troops to Iraq appears to have contributed to the bombing deaths of 201 in Spain.

"A growing international investigation is focusing on Islamic militants possibly linked to al-Qaida as the culprits in the Madrid train bombings last Thursday...."

SNIP..."Dean's comment came as he was defending former rival John Kerry, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, from a Bush campaign ad accusing Kerry of turning his back on U.S. soldiers fighting in Iraq...."

SNIP..."Dean issued a statement later to The Associated Press that said, "Let me be clear, there is no justification for terrorism. Today I was simply repeating what those who have claimed responsibility for the bombings in Spain said was the reason they carried out that despicable act."

3. The nick does not reflect MY philosophy of course.
Just a bit of "ironic" fun. Have a nice day, be of good cheer!

4. Dean will be a good bulldog to make attacks like this all campaign season
long. The Kerry people can claim Dean doesn't speak for them, but as long as they don't make him stop attacking, I might get to really like this arrangement.

5. Kerry just repudiated Dean's statement. So much for that, huh?

6. Hey, Racicot! Blaming Bush is not blaming America!
"If Senator Kerry understands the nature of this threat and the need to take on terror, then he should immediately repudiate these troubling comments, and stop all efforts on behalf of his surrogates to blame America for these attacks," said Racicot, former governor of Montana.

7. Racicot told Kerry what to do. He did it. He repudiated.
So much for that.

8. That's not leadership.
I knew Kerry wouldn't have the balls to do this.

9. The test will be if Kerry scolds or shuns Dean
It's okay with me if he claims he doesn't share Dean's view (though why he doesn't on this beats me, when it's clear from the evidence that Dean was right as usual). It's not okay with me if he goes further than that to show what a good establishment boy he is. It's ideal if he lets Dean be Dean, even when he's ostensibly working to get Kerry elected. That would demonstrate a degree of tolerance, maturity, and dare I say wisdom that has been lacking in the executive for going on 3.25 years now.
