Obama promises to dedicate presidency to homosexual activism

Washington DC, Mar 1, 2008 / 06:10 pm (CNA).- Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama has promised to use the presidency as a “bully pulpit” for homosexual activism, according to an open letter released on his campaign website.

In the February 28 letter posted under the “LGBT” section of the “People” heading, Senator Obama said he would press for the passage of hate crime laws and a “fully inclusive” Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which would outlaw discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.

"As your President, I will use the bully pulpit to urge states to treat same-sex couples with full equality in their family and adoption laws," Obama said.

Obama said he favored civil unions over same-sex marriage laws, but said, "I also believe that the federal government should not stand in the way of states that want to decide on their own how best to pursue equality for gay and lesbian couples..."

He pledged to repeal the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” practice that excludes open homosexuals from military service.

This cracks me up - the reporting of this as a bad thing. And the phrase, "Homosexual Activism."

18. My parish is slowly being destroyed by the new pastor who
wants to take us back to 1952. I've been trying to figure out how to get out teaching religious ed since he's taken over. Do you think if I wore the rainbow Obama button that that would do it?

9. I teach religious ed, and tell my classes that the word "Catholic" means
"Here comes everyone". From time to time, I'm reminded that "Here comes everyone" includes a lot of fruit cakes. Finding out about a private group that refers to itself as "catholic news agency " is one of those times.

From another story on the Web Site:

Writer votes for Obama, defends his choice saying, “Bishops be damned”

Washington DC, Feb 27, 2008 / 07:58 am (CNA).- A writer who wrote a Washington Post op-ed piece arguing against the U.S. bishops’ criticism of voters who support pro-abortion politicians and ended his article with a curse of the bishops could face canonical penalties for inciting hatred against the bishops.
"here comes everyone".

Joe Feuerherd, a correspondent for the National Catholic Reporter, attacked the bishops’ statement “Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship” in the Sunday edition of the Washington Post. In their statement, the bishops noted that voters’ political decisions could affect their salvation.

Feuerherd also criticized the bishops’ efforts to ensure the worthy reception of Holy Communion in the case of pro-abortion politicians who attend Mass.

While describing himself as an opponent of liberal abortion laws, Feuerherd criticized Republicans and pledged his support for the Democrats. “Sounds like I'll be voting for the Democrat -- and the bishops be damned,” his essay concluded.

Canon lawyer Dr. Edward Peters vigorously condemned the curse. “To wish damnation on an individual or a group is to wish on them the absolutely worst fate conceivable: separation from God forever,” Peters wrote. “Catholics possessed of even a rudimentary catechesis know that one cannot invoke upon a human being any greater calamity than damnation, and that it is never licit, for any reason, to wish that another person be damned.”
