To All DUers from Ohio, Texas, Rhode Island, and Vermont:
Today, I respectfully request your vote for Barack Obama in the Democratic primary elections that are being held on March 4, 2007. I do not want another 4 years of Republican rule. I am afraid we all risk this if Sen. Clinton is our nominee. It is not fair and it is not right. But it is reality. I want, more than my next breath, a Democratic President of the United States.
If the Republicans win again, the war will rage on, the working class will be plunged into poverty, and the Supreme Court will be a neocon machine who will strip away the freedoms of ordinary people like us. As a female attorney, I can appreciate the frustration that women feel about being shut out of the presidency. But what sends chills up my spine is the Republican held Supreme Court, tacking more to the right, and taking away any reproductive rights that we may have. This is guaranteed by 4 more years of Republican rule.
We don’t have time to gamble; we don’t have time to wish for something else. We cannot take any more risks. I want a Democratic President more than any other ideal that I have in my heart.
Today, the polls demonstrate, and “conventional wisdom” dictates, that Obama has the best chance at besting McCain in the general election. I know polls change but I want all of you to make the best decision that you can make today. As the beloved Ann Richards said, “the here and now is all we have, and if we play it right it's all we'll need.” All we have is the here and now; and what we need is a Democratic President of the United States. Please vote for Barack Obama.
