Barack Obama Supporters Read This Now!

My fellow Democrats:

I hereby apologize for my incessant babbling and gloating over Hillary's victory last night. I realize that Hillary supporters are a minority in this community, and so I apologize for posting another OP that does not address the true issues of why Barack Obama supporters should consider voting for Hillary Clinton as well. I realize that many people believe that she should, after 35 years, give up this nonsense ambition and resign to defeat in order to unify the Democratic party. I merely disagree with this. My post does nothing to advance the honest debate between Democrats on real issues that affect our country, and for that, I repeat: my apologies.

If the DU becomes a place where these types of threads aren't consistently recommended and kicked to the top of the greatest threads page, I will be less inclined to post an OP such as this in the future. Until then, I will try not to let my emotions control my OP choices.

It's just a good example of the mood in the GDP. By this time, an earlier OP of mine entitled "Barack Supporters, Switch to Clinton" had 10 rec's and 40 replies. Hence, if you want your voice to be heard loudly, you have to say something outrageous. I get caught up in it myself constantly and generally my crap OPs get much more attention than say my analysis of the pros and cons of Nafta. That's just how it is. After the nominee appears, regardless of who it is, Skinner has said the tone will change.

And I apologize if I have said anything to piss you off as well. I understand how frustrating these past few weeks have been for you, and I don't blame you for being excited, but I am glad you recognize that gloating doesn't help your candidate or the party. I've said the same thing to many Obama supporters in the past few weeks.

I think as a general rule, this forum would be a lot more civil if we confined our attacks to the candidates and not their supporters. I've posted some pretty harsh things about Hillary, but I have never and will never attack the people on DU or the voters who are supporting her. I think if both groups tried to do that it would go a long way toward reducing the hard feelings between candidate partisans here.

Last night I kept waiting to see which Obama supporter would be the first one to make a sincere "congrats" thread. None came. Even now, of the small handful of threads from Obama supporters who've made such threads, only one did so without adding their own sour grapes to it.


The post you wrote contained a mere bit of every low strike Hillary supporters have had to put up with and aimed it right back at them. It may have been nasty but it was well-earned.

This OP makes several assumptions that are rather insulting. Why would you think that I would want Clinton to abandon her quest to be president? This is a primary with all of it's turns and twists; however, there are also many people who may not ever unify behind Clinton.

Personally, I would appreciate a candidate that I can vote for. I follow politics, politicians, and policy closely, and that includes the teams of advisors those politicians chose to hire. There are reasons that people chose not to support Clinton, and those problems will not go away. If Senator Clinton was actually interested in the unity of the party, she might stop recommending the virtues of McCain over Obama. Yeah, how about if she cared about the party's chances in November.
