I would like to see Obama put a woman on the ticket
Edited on Mon Mar-10-08 08:27 PM by Quixote1818
I think Hillary has worn out her welcome but there has to be some really sharp women out there who would make great VP's. I think it will help heal some wounds with some women who strongly supported Hillary.

Any suggestions? Is that a good or bad idea? Are there any Women with National Security experience?

18. A VP is someone 1 step away from the presidency!
You can't pick susan power or susan rice for VP. It has to be someone with standing and preferably executive experience, i.e., a governor or general.

17. While I agree. I do think we should look at some resumes of women along with men.
Edited on Mon Mar-10-08 08:34 PM by Kittycat
I would love to see the RIGHT woman (or man) on the ticket. I just strongly feel, HRC is the wrong woman. In all honesty, I don't know much about some of the leading women in the country. It does seem more information is out there on the leading men, because they've been in it so long, and are often more vocal/presented on TV. Not being sexist on it - but maybe some names could be floated for everyone to examine.

5. The governors of Arizona & Kansas maybe?
For national security, isn't there a woman in the House who is very high up on the Intel committees? Probably wouldn't be a popular choice among DUers, though, as she's more moderate. (I forget her name, but she's from california)

30. Gary Hart would be an excellent choice...
his age may be against him (he's 72this year, same age as McCain), but his strength on national security especially as it relates to the threat posed to the US by international terrorism is unquestionable. Even if he's not VP, I wouldn't be surprised to see him with a position in an Obama administration (Director of Central Intelligence, perhaps).

11. Claire McCaskill (member of the Senate Armed Services Committee)...
Barbara Boxer (Senate Foreign Relations Committee).

The best choices for Obama's VP are all male (Webb, Biden, possibly Wes Clark); this has nothing to do with gender, but with the requisite national security credentials to balance the ticket (the potential field of female candidates who have those credentials is slim).

25. VA has a Democratic governor (Tim Kaine) who will appoint a replacement.
And Mark Warner is an early favourite to win John Warner's Senate seat when his term is up in 2010; if Kaine were to select Warner as Webb's replacement, the odds are that he'd win any special election. The Senate balance woulod remain unchanged. And VA is trending blue.

Edited on Mon Mar-10-08 08:34 PM by tokenlib
..now that Clark is a bit out of favor. It would be nice to see the national security issue taken down a few notches for McCain.

Is there a female General high enough in rank to make a splash??
