A question regarding do-overs: (Not meant to be inflammatory)
Now, I know that Fla. and Mich. are a hot topic. But I have two questions regarding whether a do-over is acceptable, and I think they're fair ones:

1.) In those primaries, many already cast their votes once. Others crossed the aisle and voted for the Repulicans, because they knew that their vote would have no meaning.

So, wouldn't a do over essentially allow them a "second vote"? The ability to vote in both the Republican AND Democratic primaries? Or two votes within the primary? That seems to violate the "One person, one vote" rule.

2.) If we allow it this time, then what's to stop other states from fucking up the system in the future? What if they say "Well, you let Fla. and Mich. have do overs after you censured them? They'll have to give us the same treatment!"

Again, not to be inflammatory, but these seem to be important questions as to the reliability to the primaries. How can we allow the denizens of these states to essentially have two votes?

1. Florida is a closed primary
so I can't imagine why there would be any cross overs when you only have Dems on the ballot and only Dems voting. I wouldn't worry about a "do-over." Boths state are gone.

2. Gone where?
By the way I doubt other states are looking at this and thinking they should do the same thing, if only because of how much it will cost to have another primary.
It's a mess.

7. FL was probably McCain anyway
and if MI wants to elect John "I Don't Understand the Economy" McCain out of spite they are asking for all of the hurt they are going to get.

Don't back down to empty state threats, it is BEYOND obvious that the party leaders who caused this clusterfuck don't speak for the people in the respective states who will vote.

3. I think your first point is definitely worth looking at. The second one I'm not as concerned with.
What state party officials want to look like the dumb shits that Florida and Michigan look like now?

4. Florida is a closed primary
They don't allow republicans or independents vote in the democratic primary.

When I read the header of your post, I wont say what popped in my mind reading "do-over". :)

8. Its been said that if you voted in the republican primary
You wont be allowed to vote in a Democratic re-do, which screws people like myself who tried to mess with the republicans because my vote wouldnt count in the dem primary.

9. Well, considering all the outrage over republicans
trying to mess with democratic primary, maybe you shouldn't have tried to mess with the republicans.
