The truth and stupidity of what Geraldine Ferraro said
Edited on Tue Mar-11-08 04:52 PM by brentspeak
The truth:

It is true that a good deal of Obama's support, at least from young people, has come from those who like the idea of a black man becoming President. It's not the only reason those supporters like him, but it is a significant reason. This has been acknowledged by Obama campaign workers.

The stupidity:

There's no reason for Ferraro to have had to spell it out as such. And it's stupid also because Hillary Clinton wouldn't be where she was if it wasn't for the fact that she was the First Lady.

Another truth:

Both campaigns have been playing the race card. A total disgrace that a blind person months in advance could have seen happening.

1. So many truths that can't be said out loud. I sure wish there
was some kind of handout or something so we would know.

2. You apparently haven't read what she said
meaning everything she said.

If you had, you would know that her comment was made in the context of how the news media is covering the primary campaign.

But since you didn't bother to make an informed analysis before commenting, then you need to explain whether you are in fact being sexist - making a snap judgement about Ferraro because she is a woman and without bothering to gather the facts.

3. An interesting response, coming from you
as you were the one who kicked a thread the other day which bogusly claimed Wesley Clark said Obama was "not prepared to be Commander In Chief." A examination of what he actually said would have shown that he never said any such thing -- but you kicked the thread, regardless.

4. If the truth can't be said out loud...
...then there is something wrong with the listeners.

5. This happens everytime somebody says something racist.
There's always that guy who says "it's not racist because it's true!"

8. Fortunately, for you, there's no law which prevents dumb people from posting on the Internet

Bishop Glen A. Staples, pastor of the Temple of Praise Church in Southeast Washington, where former president Bill Clinton appeared yesterday, said Clinton and Obama differ little on the issues.

"Of course, a lot are going to Obama because they like that he's a black man. But a lot support Hillary because of past and present ties to" the Clintons, said Staples, who said he is undecided but will not reveal his choice publicly when he makes it.

7. Then some other Black man should have been able to do the same thing.. your truth is BULL SHIT
NO FUCKING WAY

He is an extraordinary candidate no matter his race. AND if you don't think that breaking down these racial barriers make him even stronger for having over come these barriers you better burst yourself out of that tiny little bubble you live in and go visit Chicago's south side for a while. Good luck with that.

9. I guess the problem with the following pastor is that he's not from Chicago's south side?

10. John Edwards v. Obama
I kind of wish John Edwards would have stayed in and HRC dropped out after South Carolina. Can you imagine a Edwards v. Obama primary race without HRC? We'd actually be discussing issues. He's a class act and this campaign wouldn't have taken the nasty turn it has if it were Edwards v. Obama.

And I could've voted for him or Obama in the GE regardless of who won the primary. He would never have engaged in race-baiting, even if he were losing.

The only reason we've gone this direction is b/c of Hillary Clinton.
