It's not race, it's not gender, what they fear is... age,
Edited on Tue Mar-11-08 06:43 PM by walldude
age and the loss of power. Ferraro's comments have made me realize that it's not race or gender that fear. It's the new guard that they fear. It's not that Obama is black or Muslim(yes, he's not Muslim, but some across the isle haven't quite figured that out yet, they are just "taking his word for it"), it's that he's got the young people. He's got the new voters, he's got the students, he represents the new guard, and the old guard is scared shitless. The status quo is heading out the window and the old guard has shown that they will say anything to keep their gridlock on power.

It's been less than a week since I threw my hat in with Obama, and honestly since I have started coming into GDP and paying a bit more attention to what's going on I'm quite sure I made the correct choice. Call me a cult member, call me a corpse but what I see from the Clinton campaign is a sense of entitlement, and a sense of anger because someone younger, and more charismatic has dared to, not only step into the race, but has proved to be a formidable opponent.

The Clintons, through Bill's buddy buddy with Poppy has given the impression that they are part of the "old guard" and part of the problem. The reason people are flocking to Obama is not because he is some kind of cult leader but because people are tired of the same old shit. People are losing their houses, they don't have insurance, their kids aren't getting the proper education, not to mention the blood in the sand over in Iraq. People want change, even if it's "inexperienced". We have seen what the "experienced" people can do. Time to turn the party over to the young people and hope that they aren't as pathetically inept as we have been.

I was hypnotized into joining the cult. I donated all my worldly possessions, now I post from a computer in the library, in between hanging out on the street corner in my Obama robes chanting "She's a Monster"

4. You nailed it
I'm a Viet Nam era vet, and I am damn sick and tired of all these fellow boomers in government who to me are just a bunch of draft dodging chickenhawks, along with all their buddies in the MSM. Before I die, I would like to see a radical change in the government dynamic that we won't get from the DLC'ers (the Clinton machine).

I'm a Liberal and I don't want to play "Centrist" politics anymore if we have a chance to get a clear congressional majority that can give a Barack Obama the lift to make some real changes.

12. It's two kinds of power
It's what you're referring to for some, but it's also the corporate elitist DLC power that they took 20 years building and now it looks like it's all going to go out the window.

14. "Get out of the way if you can't lend a hand"...
"for the times they are a'changing"

I'm embarrassed that Hillary was an AuH2O Girl and wants to tell us women of her generation that we should fight like hell to be idiots for her.

17. You know what's funny,
it's the people who pushed the old guard out back when "the times were a changing" that are struggling to hold on to the power they had to fight tooth and nail for back then. You'd think they'd get "it" and get the fuck out of the way.
