Olbermann is the biggest hypocrite.
He was whining about Hillary, saying that Dems shouldn't bash Dems.

And then spent the next 10 minutes trashing Hillary.

Then he lied.
He said Samantha Powers resigned the day after she made the comments.
It was at least 5 days later.

Is Keith okay?

1. Just another blowhard
Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 07:40 PM by JoFerret
People who rant as the main mo are generally unreliable. We all found him great when he ranted against BushCo but now he's moved on and the rant has shifted target. Who knows what will upset him next.

The fire breathers and blowhards are not useful commentators on TV - all mouth, all noise and hiss and spittle.

10. You better read her own words.
"With deep regret, I am resigning from my role as an advisor the Obama campaign effective today. Last Monday, I made inexcusable remarks that are at marked variance from my oft-stated admiration for Senator Clinton and from the spirit, tenor, and purpose of the Obama campaign. And I extend my deepest apologies to Senator Clinton, Senator Obama, and the remarkable team I have worked with over these long 14 months," Power said in a statement.

61. And Olbermann said that Ferraro took how long to resign? 15 days.
Yet her remarks were published on Mar 7th, and widely known on Mar 10th.

Olbermann used one scale to judge Ferraro, and another to judge Powers, yet compared them as if they were the same. 15 days vs. immediate resignation.

33. I wonder about that.
Most seem to use republican terms and tactics. The don't seem to be of progressive mindset, more of the anything goes Rove-like mindset. They probably were never a fan of the few news journalist that did break from the corporate masters and tell the truth. Notice they are throwing every brave journalist out the window. So there is no way any republican would ever vote for Hillary (they absolutely hate her), they are now alienating the left and middle. They have nothing left but a little slice of neo-liberals that are beholden to corporations.

In a March 6 interview with The Scotsman, she said: "We fucked up in Ohio. In Ohio, they are obsessed and Hillary is going to town on it, because she knows Ohio's the only place they can win".<11> <12> "She is a monster, too -- that is off the record -- she is stooping to anything... You just look at her and think, 'Ergh.' But if you are poor and she is telling you some story about how Obama is going to take your job away, maybe it will be more effective. The amount of deceit she has put forward is really unattractive.

and this is from Politco

Power resigns

Samantha Power has resigned from the Obama campaign. The campaign released a statement from her:

With deep regret, I am resigning from my role as an advisor the Obama campaign effective today. Last Monday, I made inexcusable remarks that are at marked variance from my oft-stated admiration for Senator Clinton and from the spirit, tenor, and purpose of the Obama campaign. And I extend my deepest apologies to Senator Clinton, Senator Obama, and the remarkable team I have worked with over these long 14 months.

This campaign was her first time acting as a surrogate for a candidate -- not a journalist and academic speaking her own mind -- and it doesn't seem to have been her calling. (Which doesn't mean you shouldn't go buy her books, of which I'm a fan.)

15. He's Hugely Biased Against Her. He Could Easily Repudiate The Obama Camp For Similar Things,
but won't. Hopefully when this is all over, he will get back to being genuine. For now, he's showing severe bias and he's not even hiding it well.

That whole story on Hillary being the one giving the wink on NAFTA proved he had jumped the shark more than ever, and was one of the most weak standards of journalism I had ever seen from him. It was right then that I realized how truly biased towards Obama he had become, that even he was becoming prone to silly knee jerking. But hopefully, which I'm confident of, it is only temporary and he will get back to having the integrity I've grown to love him for.

49. Incest? You need a dictionary. It's not incest unless he fucked Katy's mom.
And it isn't "statuatory rape" unless the victim is under the age of legal consent.

But it IS "immature." She's not a rocket scientist, so you can't even use the "intellect" excuse, which is what the Kucinich-bots pull out when dealing with his wacky but lovely looking bride.

Kucinich is a bit odd for another reason--anyone who changes wives like they change their underwear either has horrible luck or "issues." Funny how when he started trading in wives is when he, by his actions, parted ways with his Roman Catholic faith, and thus was able to change his mind on the long held anti-choice issue...!

It's "noticed" when you're older than your paramour's parents. It says something about your level of emotional maturity.

and really were not sure how to react to New Hampshire.

Even several Obama supporters here, honest one, noticed how this gang went after Clinton when they realized that she was not going to drop out after Iowa.

Admittedly, I stopped watching him after New Hampshire and I stopped reading Jonathan Alter and Howard Fineman after Alter's whining that he felt like a step child to the older baby boomers - read: the Clintons.

56. Except for the fact that
1) You have misused the word hypocrite

2) His criticism of Hillary is in fact enforcing the dictum "don't bash Dems" and is therefore entirely consistent

3) Your facts on Samantha Powers is wrong and has been debunked on the thread you are probably referring

everything else is okay

62. Of course he is. He, and his guests from Newsweek were all ready to coronate Obama
and then they just arranged the "reports" to fit their mindset.

I stopped watching him after the NH primary.

81. Do you not see?

Olbermann asked "Do you not see, Senator?"
He didn't "trash Hillary", he trashed what most everyone who has eyes can see as an insidious racism that does nobody good, and does everybody, especially Hillary, harm.

I smell a pungent mix of Mark Penn and Charlie Black, a miasma that obscures reality. Not exactly the smell of leadership.

From JedReport at Daily Kos:

"Hillary Clinton's chief strategist is Mark Penn, and Charlie Black, John McCain's top adviser, is chairman of BKSH, the DC-based lobbying subsidiary of Burson-Marsteller -- of which Mark Penn is CEO.

Yes, this is the same lobbyist Barack Obama was referring to when he criticized John McCain for allowing lobbyists to conduct their business on board his bus."

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/2/24/14518/2213/544/463202

A plain fact. So, if it comes to that, who do you think Mark Penn is most likely to throw under that bus? I mean, along with the progressives?

What kind of judgement is being shown here?

IMO the best way for Obama to handle this kind of shit is to brush it aside and stay on topic, putting under scrutiny, in a comparison, his vision of the USA in counterposition to that of McCain.

Anyhow, my bet is that he'll do that.

86. re. pretzel moves
I think pretzel moves might be OK, if they're intended to say something about the truth. IMO a very unpretzel-like move is to say that it's certainly NOT the case that McCain has the jam to be president of the USA, in 2008. It's certainly not the case that he has the jam to answer a "3AM emergency call" to the white house - anymore than that goof who sat frozen in midst of reading "My Pet Goat" had the jam to answer a call at more reasonable hours.

I don't know when it bacame habit to call the president of the US "commander in chief", rather than simply "president" - for certainly being "commander in chief" follows from being "president", not vice-versa. I mean, in a democracy.
There's a whole slew of questions to ask about war and peace that aren't circumscribed by the idea of electing a "war president", and should really be answered first. I mean, before rushing headlong into war. I think most Americans know this, and I think that most human beings know this.

Being "caught up in war fever" just doesn't cut it.
