NC gubernatorial candidate Beverly Perdue endorses Obama
Perdue announces Obama endorsement

Gubernatorial candidate Beverly Perdue, who last month was remaining neutral on the presidential race, announced Wednesday she is supporting Sen. Barack Obama.

Perdue campaign adviser Mac McCorkle said Perdue, the state's lieutenant governor, had decided to endorse now that North Carolina has become a battleground state in the fight for the Democratic presidential nomination.

"She thinks both candidates are exceptionally well-qualified, but will be voting for Obama," he said.

Observers believe Perdue will do well with female voters drawn to Hillary Clinton's candidacy. Black voters have turned out in large numbers in other Southern states and overwhelmingly supported Obama.

Perdue's main rival, state Treasurer Richard Moore, endorsed Obama earlier, and his wife, Noel, gave the Illinois senator $2,300 this year.

2. Nice, a new endorsement
Seems like it's been a few days. Is she a superdelegate?

3. She's one of our elected delegates
but not sure if she is a superdelegate. I know our congressional delegates are superdelegates.

7. Perdue is leading in the polls, but I like Richard Moore MUCH more.
