Clinton Camp: Amish "shunning" reference
Hillary Clinton spoke in Harrisburg today and drew a large representation from Lancaster County (Amish country)....

Later the Clinton campaign chastised Barack Obama for what they said is his "shunning" of Pennsylvania. (Of course, Hillary had no idea that this "misinformative-play-on-words" was being released.:sarcasm: )

5. It's so cool how she inflames people with falsehoods and loaded language
must be why those negatives of hers are so low.

16. "shunning" is an effective word in PA? Please explain
exactly how the use of the word shunning in a speech to a group of non-Amish is going to make an ounce of difference in the vote in PA? How many Amish voters will even notice? How many AMish voters are there and how many are registered Democrats?

I'm an Obama supporter, and I think any of my fellow supporters who tries to make an issue out of this are off the deep end.

19. It's a word that implies...rejection and disdain.
Pennsylvanians are very familiar with the concept of shunning. Hillary wants to imply that Obama is rejecting the entire state of Pennsylvania..... and SHE is the only one who cares about them.:sarcasm:

(Nothing to do with Amish "voters").

23. the concept of shunning is familiar to a lot of people everywhere
Edited on Thu Mar-13-08 03:50 PM by onenote
I would bet that even outside Pennsylvania there are tens of millions of people who have heard the word "shun" and knows what it means even though they have never heard of the Amish practice of shunning.

Big f'ing deal.

Let's not turn into the stupid word police.

4. WTF? MS was two days ago and PA is 5+ weeks from now...

SHUNNING?

How about this.... Obama at least presented a full slate of delegates to PA.... Clinton, who thought this would be over on Feb 5th, never presented to the PA SOS a full slate of delegates... even after Fast Eddie gave them an extension to do so.

14. I give the residents of PA more credit than that.
He'll be shunning PA only if he never shows up there. She's acting in a manner that should be offensive to thinking people everywhere.

I can say this because I know for a fact there aren't any Amish people on the Internet. :)

21. I've always wanted to "shun" something.
I just can't decide what it is that I'd like to shun.

Maybe I'll shun creamy peanut butter, since crunchy peanut butter is clearly superior....

27. Isn't he known for his grassroots campaign/volunteers??
Probably going on under the radar...

Just because HE is not physically IN the state doesn't meet his grassroots supporters haven't been/aren't hitting the pavement and setting the stage for another HRC "WTF happened in THIS state...ah, it doesn't MATTER, anyway..ON to Puerto Rico"!!
But HRC sems to have no concept of such a strategy so it's no wonder she is making such ignorant comments.
