Fox news is overdoing the pastor coverage
They have been in a full attack mode since yesterday. They keep showing the clips of pastor's speeches any chance they get. Even before they do show a response by Obama they play more of their clips.

Fox news was the media outlet that started pushing this story very hard. I found the interview that one of their reporters had with Obama last night somewhat insulting. The way and the tone of those questions..

You can not talk to a senator and the front runner of this democratic race like that.

What's sad is that some on DU are jumping on the same bandwagon trying to hurt Obama.

If Obama does not win the nomination because of this shameless smear campaign, you can bet your ass that most blacks will not bother to show up and vote for Hillary.

Now go ahead and run the board with your shit.

after awhile it loses its shock value, they will need something worse to show to get a reaction, just ask Howard Stern

13. Or Don Imus
I doubt it'll be enough to sink Obama from getting the nomination, and the story may be "peaking" too early to have as large of an effect as it would if it came out after august, will it be enough to sink obama in the GE? We'll find out, and I certainly hope not

9. And, isn't it interesting that they didn't bother to dig this deep into an actual Presidential
candidate's own sermons, who made his living as a preacher, namely Huckabee? How many wonderful gems do you think you could find in his material?

11. This IS a good point, IF, and only if:
1. Obama supporters do EVERYTHING they can do to counter-act Fox (instead of counting coup on Hillary).
2. The Democratic Party does LESS than everything it CAN do to counter Fox.

And FYI, I am thinking about "do" in very creative terms here, so as to encompass EVERYTHING and ANYTHING that is possibly constructive in effect on the ISSUES.

If conditions 1. and 2. ARE met, I can understand how people might not chose to support a candidate just on the Party's say so.

17. Agree that Dems should turn focus back
on ridiculous statements by McCain supporters.

Dems lose if we start focusing on other Dems; we should aim at McCain's flaws.

Fox just wants McCain to be president because McCain will protect their corporate interests.

15. Better now than later
Of course, this coverage is playing the fear-of-blacks card, and a lot of whites will bite, but hopefully not in blue states and not enough of them in swing states.

This coverage confirms the fears that some whites have of ALL DEMOCRATS. It gives them reason to vote for McCain.

This isn't about Obama vs Hillary.

It's about corporations keeping their power by making McCain president.

16. heaven forbid a shameless smear campaign should be aimed at Obama
they are everywhere, aimed at everyone. Whitewater, Swiftboat, travelgate, Hoover's attempts to smear MLK, and on and on.

the Major Garrett "interview" (cross examination) of Obama was an abomination. Obama handled it brilliantly.

Why do you insist on adding to the fray? Your remarks encourage the type of remarks Ferraro made. You WANT to turn up the noise?

20. I disagree with this:
"You can not talk to a senator and the front runner of this democratic race like that."

Why not? Would you censor or impose restrictions if they did that to a repuke cadidate? I don't believe in restraining the press. (even though FUX barely meets the criteria)

I just want the "real" networks to ask aggressive questions to EVERYONE. It is supposed to be their job!

23. Folks, this is a soft rain compared to the storm that is coming.
Hillary's supporters are used to this level of diatribe from the MSM. Non-stop Clinton-bashing is what several cable news networks built their viewership on.

But this kind of coverage probably seems a little cruel and unfair to BO supporters who, until now, have never had to face what Clinton has had to face every day for nearly 20 years.

The campaign will be conducted on THIS kind of issue at THIS kind of decibel level from now until November. Hillary has always known that and has always been prepared for it.

Obmama's supporters who think THIS level of coverage is unfair had better toughen up quick. Because it is going to get much, much worse, and you won't be able to squelch the bad news anymore by pointing fingers at Hillary.

24. If you cannot recognize this is straight from the Right.,
and it is not going away. Sean Hannity has spent months
researching and laying the groundwork for this story.

Newsmaz, (Kessler, has spent months on this story)

This is the Right smearing the Left. This is a tool the
Rwers will use in the GE.

You have to remember thato to the Right, critixising America
is next to treason. When they speak of the America Haters and
and Hate American Crowd, they view the left just this way.
They believe this can be a rallying tool.

I am not saying this is the right thing for them to do. I am
trying to explain how they operate and think.

This benefits no one in our party --not even Hillary.

25. and on that you are correct
they paint all non-extreme-right people as demons. The whole "why do you hate America" thing. They paint anyone who smacks of being progressive as eating babies for breakfast. They will happily lump this, Lewis Farrakhan, and Hillary's decorating the Christmas tree with colored condoms (you had not heard that one?) with communist-loving, bedwetting, public masturbation, and whatever else they can think of. The rumor that Jews eat male babies' foreskins will probably be resurrected (you had not heard that one?).

This will server to add to their vitriol. There will be a cadre of knuckledraggers who buy it all, hook, line and sinker. The default to muckain as a kindly grandfather (remember raygun) is coming.
