Obama Was In Chicago The Morning Of Controversial Sermon
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/17/obama-was-in-chicago-the-_n_91876.html

A bit of campaign controversy broke out Monday morning, after Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign and members of the media pointed to a serious inaccuracy in an anti-Obama op-ed by New York Times columnist Bill Kristol.

At the heart of the debate is whether or not Obama attended a sermon by his now controversial former pastor Jeremiah Wright decrying America's complicity in the Iraq war and the "arrogance of the 'United States of White America.'"

Kristol, citing only an already-disputed article in Newsmax, says yes. Obama, supported by several news articles and video footage, says he was campaigning in Miami.

But according to the Washington Post's presidential tracker, Obama did, in fact, make an "appearance" in Chicago on the morning in question: July 22, 2002. He also, later in the day, flew to Miami for a fundraiser.

1. You left out this part
~snip~

Obama's spokesperson Tommy Vietor confirmed that the schedule was accurate but stressed that the senator did not make a stop at Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ.

"We have reviewed his schedule," he wrote. "He didn't go to church that day...

His campaign says he wasn't in IL, now he was, but not at church. hmmmmmmm.

10. No, his campaign never said he wasn't in IL
They said he wasn't at the church. This just confirms that.

2. Everyone knows he was in Chicago. He flew to Miami that day.
And it's impossible for him to have gotten back to Chicago on the same day in time to hear Wright's sermon.

22. And...
Impossible for him to have had an appearance in Chicago in the morning, go to church, and then fly to Miami in time to give a speech at 1:30 eastern time.

9. This is one of the dumbest things I've ever read.
He was in the same city, therefore he must have heard a sermon?

28. It really is. I can't believe over a dozen posts on the first page
of this forum are about this story. Economy tanking, war going on, the country going to hell in a hand basket, and this is what's important. To hell with it - I'm going to go bake some bread.

11. Nice attempt at a smear job
but citing Kristol and Newsmax as sources discredit you at the get go. Marc Ambinder from the Atlantic is all over this right now, and it does not appear that Obama was at the church. Nice try though.

reflect the fact that he did not attend church that day?

27. So put the title in quotes and add a phrase like
"but he wasn't at church that day". How hard can that be?

19. You know, I sat through a sermon yesterday and I thought the priest was
full of shit. I sat there quietly reading my misselette because my parish is bigger than the priest.
