Nader's ineffective strategy on the environment vs. the early nineties
Edited on Tue May-04-04 12:31 PM by LoZoccolo
I remember in the early nineties it seemed like the environmental movement made significant progress in getting people to think about environmental issues. Part of this, I think, was that 1990 marked the twentieth anniversary of Earth Day, but it did seem like a lot of people really did want to do some things about landfills and were putting bricks in the toilet tank and recycling and even McDonald's stopped using styrofoam packages.

This strategy of public awareness, of taking the issues to the general mass of people, seemed to do some good.

The Nader strategy, of threatening a party with a small part of the electorate, has contributed to getting us Bush*'s environmental policies.

Discuss.

1. Nader is no green
his place on the Green party ticket in 2000 was purely a marriage of convenience.
