Why hasn't John Kerry borrowed Dean's $100 from 2 million people idea yet?
Gov. Dean had this great idea to match bush's fund raising from the wealthy by going for $100 dollars from 2 million people. I though it was a great idea ANY candidate would borrow if they'd gotten the nod. Such donations would show grass-roots commitment but also embarrass Georgie and company by demonstrating the strong desire to get rid of the lot of them.

Yesterday, Gov. Dean "lent his bat" to John Kerry and raised over 500,000 in less than one day. Why not go for the whole thing Senator Kerry? Any other thoughts on this. I want Kerry to be able to have the $200 million it may take to get rid of bush-cheney-rummy-asscroft-etc.

Any thoughts on this?

3. No...
I'm waiting to see if he really is the "real Deal." I like Kerry but he hasn't really inspired me yet (although the "boring" label is a total myth). I'm concerned about who he might pick for VP, and if he really intends to hold onto Bush's misguided, punitive, school privatization scheme referred to as No Child Left Behind.

My 100 will not help his campaign alone, but with others like me who don't have it to give making a sacrifice, we could do it.

I fear Kerry will not be able to fight in the battleground states if he doesn't start closing the funding gap.

5. Hey 9, Get Inspired! :) You've got 5 minutes! :)
You just inspired me!
John is the "Real Deal"!
As for 'No Child Left Behind', John has said that, unlike bushbag*, he'll fund it! :)
A N D... Each $100 is the most important $100!

8. Missed the point
I think I've seen 9 post that s/he is a teacher, so s/he doesn't want NCLB funded, s/he simply wants it GONE. As do most teachers.

4. Hey 9, that is a fantastic idea, and it would work!
I have 6 people, already, who would happily give $100 each in a campaign to raise $200 million ($100 at a time) for John, and especially (I must admit) to show bushbag* what we, the people, can do, and how motivated we, the people, are to GET RID OF HIM AND HIS THUGS! :hi:

6. Because the DLC won't let him.
How would it look to the "Democrats" who Love Corporatism if their candidate was openly advocating that his campaign be financed by the people.

Would kinda contradict the DLC's entire reason for existence, wouldn't it? (aside from right wing neocon infiltration of the Democratic party, that is)

9. Yes. I know for a fact that Kerry does not accept donations below $1,000
That damn DLC.

7. Check out this John Kerry ad running online on the front page of NYT!
Edited on Wed May-19-04 11:35 AM by flpoljunkie
http:/www.nytimes.com/

He has asked for differing amounts with other ads wiith great success. Why not get the ball rolling by sending $25 today?

Actually, there is another ad running in the same spot asking for $50 toward a $167 bus ticket to send Dubya back to Crawford! Take your pick.

Note: I have already given the maximum to John Kerry over a year's time and before the Iowa primary.

14. You ask why?
IMHO, it is because Kerry does not give to the people, what Dean did. Kerry does not appear to care about the grassroots. If he were to try to go that route, the embarrassment (that it would fail) would be too great to his ego.

Let him continue on his own DLC inspired route. Otherwise, how could he possibly emulate whistle ass as he so strongly feels he needs to?

Either you have the rhythm in you, or you don't.

15. I got a phone call from the Kerry campaign asking for $100.
So maybe they are using that idea?
