Democrat Sees Parallels to '94 Elections
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040528/ap_on_el_ge/political_deja_vu&e=3

The GOP picked up 54 House seats that year, giving it a majority for the first time in four decades. Democrats need a net gain of only 12 seats this year to take control, but Lichtman points out there are far fewer competitive seats than 10 years ago and Democrats start out in the hole because of post-2000 census redistricting.

Article about the Democrats' prospects in 2004 in the House. Does anyone know of a good source documenting '04 House races?

3. I read something similar
and can see the setup for a huge rethug loss. The Democrats need to finally unite for the common purpose of exposing the extreme rightwing agenda and at the same time presenting a positive one to that benefits the People and the Country. It could so easily be done yet so far I see NO sign of it.

4. Cook Report
http://www.cookpolitical.com/races/house/default.php

The summary is that we have virtually no chance to pick up the House. democrats would need to win every election that leans their way, AND every single "tossup" (14), PLUS at least eight or nine of the twelve rated as "leans Republican".

That would be bigger than 1994. There were far more competitive seats available for pickup in '94.

Not that it isn't possible, but it will take a monumental landslide to do it.

In the Senate we need to win everything that leans our way plus six of the eight "tossup" elections. No small accomplishment considering where some of those races will be held.
