Could * still shove his programs down our throats? At least the BFEE would be crippled, but I wouldn't put it past them to pull out their worst tricks, and they would dupe our DLC leadership into going into Syria and Iran.

4. I don't think that can happen
For * to win they either need to fix the election or completely turn the economy and Iraq around, and even that may not be enough to save him. If all that happens the chances of taking the House or the Senate are practically nill. I think we take the White House and the Senate. We probably won't take the House of Reps, but we can at least gain ground there.

5. Not going to happen
If Bush wins, then that means there was not the type and force of vote needed for us to take back the House or the Senate. Taking back the Senate is possible but not likely unless Senator Kerry wins. Even with a victory by Senator Kerry, it is a long shot right now for us to take back the House.

6. The only scenario
Under which that happens is if the economy tanks, discrediting the GOP, but the war improves, buoying Bush.

Presumably the opposite of both those things is happening, so the odds are long.

7. Better than Kerry Winning IMHO
If we get a Dem House, it would be great. Even better if we get both houses, especially if we have veto-proof margins.

If we have a veto-proof majority (60% for most bills, IIRC) and the Dem party leadership is able to maintain party discipline, Shrub is basically a lame duck president for the next two years.

He wouldn't be able to get any of his agenda through, and the Dems would be in a much better position to bargain.

And that's WITHOUT Kerry winning-- which I'm fairly certain he will, given the way things are going.

:D

9. Veto proof margins?
Just because of horrendous gerrymandering it'd be amazing if we could even take back the House, and if we did it would only be by a handful of seats.

The Senate could be won, but I have severe doubts about the House.
