2. That is right!
They also won a seat in GOP friendly Kentucky.

This is very significant.

And a great day for Democrats!

8. Wont Pelosi make a GREAT speaker?
Personally, NOTHING will make me happier with the House results in November than seeing "cockroach" Delay go down to defeat!

Tonight is a great night for Stephanie and for all Democrats!

Well done!!

12. I think you are correct.
The WH should be very, very concerned. SD is pretty conservative country from what I can see. If Bush had been doing reasonably well, I think the results would have been a solid win for Republicans. I want a Democratic sweep in November.....then we'll return the favors Bush has inflicted on us, 10 fold.

Great news!

14. We could sweep all 3 branches in November!
Edited on Wed Jun-02-04 02:02 AM by DaveSZ
Kerry needs to sharpen his message though, and pick a strong running mate (either Edwards or Clark).

Then with his coattails, we can take back Congress as well!

19. Great for Herseth!
While I'm reluctant to think this is part of a national trend (Herseth and Chandler were both terrific candidates), but the fact is that we have many stupendous candidates running this time around, and with a Democratic wave, we could definitely win this. Let's take back the Senate, the House, and the White House (and a few governor's mansions while we're at it!)

20. Hope it carries over here
The GOP seemed so confident they could just inherit a seat in my district. Now they have canceled a primary to APPOINT a candidate and we have a great young woman candidate here who I think can pull off the same thing. I don't think this is a safe seat here for the GOP, even though Barend is a newbie(former Hillary and Moynihan senate staffer, name recognition among the GOP through a relative, and on and on and on). I also think we have a shot at their "safe" state assembly seat too with someone who used to volunteer for me long years ago.

This is going to be busy even if Kerry is a shoo-in in HY. Hot dog!

Here they are:

Rep. Bob Matsui-

(Matsui mentions that only one of 23 special elections went on to not win the general-does anyone know who?)

Leader (and hopefully future Speaker) Nancy Pelosi-
