A Message from Wes Clark.......
Edited on Wed Jun-02-04 02:04 PM by in_cog_ni_to
oops...on edit...this is the email I just received. ;)

A Message from Wes Clark
June 2, 2004

Dear ******,

Since the end of the campaign I’ve been working closely with Senator John Kerry, making personal stops and visits for him across the country and appearing on national television to defeat the attacks and misleading statements from the Republican attack machine. I see our candidate and our party looking stronger with each passing day, and I am pleased by what we have accomplished in the past few months.

Unfortunately, there is still much work to do and my stepped-up travel schedule and increased coordination with Senator Kerry’s campaign have made it difficult for me to spend the time necessary to close my presidential campaign.

Will you help me focus on defeating George W. Bush?

Costs and expenses related to closing the campaign down total approximately $250,000, and every day spent raising this money keeps me away from the true work at hand: letting the country know how important it is to elect John Kerry as the next President of the United States.

In the past, your support fueled my campaign run and inspired me to fight day in and day out for the things we believed in. And while no one likes asking for money, I need your support again. If everyone who reads this email contributes just a few dollars, I can concentrate on our true mission.

Click here to make a secure contribution. A small donation now allows me to finish our work of bringing real change to Washington.

Grassroots politics is doing something incredible this year. Individuals are banding together to send a loud message to George W. Bush: the country and the government doesn’t belong to the special interest friends of George Bush and his band of neo-conservative ideologues. It belongs to all of us.

Thank you, once again, for caring so much about the future of our country. Gert and I send our fondest wishes with our deepest respect.

Sincerely,

Wes Clark

P.S. From its inception, the Clark campaign has always been supported by donations of every size. Every $100, $25 or even $10 helps.

1. Pardon my naivete,
But how does it cost $250K to close a campaign? It's an honest question....

So not more new things to be paid, but debts to be paid off. Makes sense!

20. How Can That Be?
"I were not" just doesn't sound right under any permutation. "I was not" sounds right.

Are you sure?

5. Contribute now!
We Clarkistas asked the good General to run, and so should we assume his debt.

Please contribute what you can today...there are small vendors depending on the bills being paid.

$100 done.

Just going through my box of Clark2004 stuff - I still have two t-shirts, two shoulder bags, 100 buttons and about 50 bumperstickers.

Think they'll be worth anything on Ebay some day?

45th president of the United States?

Are you kidding? Hang on to that stuff. It'll be worth a fortune some day.

14. God forbid we have two threads on a similar subject (unheard of)
Now that we know for sure what Clark's campaign debt is ($250,000), I am shifting the proceeds for my Wes Clark Democrat lapel pins to this alone. This was their original purpose, but with the confusion as to the amount of his debt, and his new PAC, I decided to raise money for the WesPAC instead. Now that I have raised $1000.00 for the PAC through pin sales (and was able to attend the NYC kickoff and give him one :) ) I am giving any remaing proceeds to his debt.

If you have maxed out on contributions, this is a way for you to give. Hey, these are real cloisonne pins, and even Wes himself gave them the thumbs up ! Buy one if you haven't yet! Buy one if you have! All proceeds go to Clark's campaign debt!

I'm working on John Kerry pins now, hopefully I will get them done in time to raise money for his campaign before the convention. They won't be cloisonne, but they will be half the price! :)

23. Cloisonne
Unlike the less expensive enamel resin, cloisonne is made from ground glass and fired to create a pin that doesn't scratch or wear easily. It lasts a lifetime. It's a quality pin and it looks great.
