7. Robert Byrd is a hero for opposing the war. I can't figure why Edwards

who said would start the war himself would be anyone's hero.
Also, Byrd spoke against Patriot Act, Edwards bragged about writing it.

WASHINGTON-The Senate on Thursday passed a sweeping antiterrorism bill that expanded the wiretapping and electronic surveillance authority of the FBI and imposed stronger penalties for harboring or bankrolling terrorists.
"This will strengthen our nation's ability to prevent future terrorist attacks," said Senator John Edwards, who worked on the legislation as a member of the Judiciary Committee and the Select Committee on Intelligence.

5. Another factoid: DLC doesn't like Edwards.

He as invited to neither this year (IIRC) or last year's DLC annual meeting.

Even last year when they were criticizing Dean, they invited Dean, a former member -- you can only be a member if you're currently holding offic -- to give a presentation.

Who else gave presentations? Kerry, Lieberman and IIRC Gephardt. No Edwards.

On NPR Daniel Schorr reported last year that Edwards is not liked by the DLC because he voted againt 4 or 5 trade bills they were pushing. He only voted for the Jordan trade bill (explicitly, because it had the labor and environmental protections) and the China bill (presumably because they actual use trade to build up the middle class -- do you know they've erradicated starvation in China and that the middle class reaps a huge percentage of the weatlh created by industrialization?). I think he voted for one other trade bill, but it was for the same reasons: it wasn't a bill that would transfer great amounts of wealths into the hands of a few rich corporations, but passed its benefits to workers abroad, and therefore, indirectly to workers and consumers in America.
