Republican 527 Groups Face Donor Resistance (Political Wire)
"Republicans are getting a cold shoulder from some of their traditional corporate benefactors, putting them at a fund-raising disadvantage against new, well-financed political organizations touting the Democratic message," the Wall Street Journal reports.

----snip

The Los Angeles Times has a similar take: "Republicans are now playing a fast and furious game of catch up in the race for campaign cash. And they're finding it's not that easy."

4. It's too late for the repukes and 527's.
The Dems actually outsmarted them on this one. The corporations have probably already given a boatload of money to the repukes....looks like they aren't giving any more. Ha! Look at the 527's repukes and WEEP! WooHoo! :bounce:

Wait until 2008 though. The repukes will have a TON of money in 527's. I don't know why they need them anyway. The chimp has, what? $200 Million? Greedy assholes. :grr:

6. The 527s will be history by 2008.
The FEC has put off regulating them, probably until after the election. However, the SupCt will have time to rule on the 527 loophole by 2008, and the 527s won't make it in their current form to 2008. The FEC proposed putting severe restrictions on the 527s this year, and then backed off.

But we have MoveOn.org, America Coming Together and The Media Fund to use as good 527s now. Also, there is MoveOnPAC. MoveOn and The Media Fund are running good anti-Bush commercials. ACT is a groundwork organization. If you're maxed out on your contribution limit to Kerry, consider contributing to these. The commercials are fun to watch too.
