Poll question: What bands will play at the Republican Convention this fall?
Edited on Wed Jun-09-04 07:33 PM by zulchzulu
I can't imagine any decent band wanting to associate themselves with Bush. Well, OK, maybe a few people might do the gig. Who would they be?

1. I forgot about Journey
I seems like they would want some recognition. Any recognition...

2. I changed my tune about Worley when he was on Franken's show...
I still think his music sucks and I still think his politics are probably pretty shitty. But he made it pretty clear on Franken's show that the song wasn't linking Saddam to 9/11. I've never actually heard the song either way so I can't say.

But he seemed to be really close to Al and developed a friendship with him when the two of them did the USO tour overseas together. It seemed like a mutual respect despite differences that I can't completely begrudge.

4. They should book Radiohead.
They could open the festivities with "Hail to the Theif!". Ha ha... nah, I'd have to be pissed about that. Love Radiohead. But you did forget Toby FREAKING Keith... god, I HATE that guy.

13. That'd not be fun
Charlie Daniels Band is a wierd case - largely conservative in nature, but (at least with some of the old stuff) has some liberal spots

8. Adding Manson to that list offends me...
But the rest are about right.

15. Why Hall and Oates?
If you're just listing bands that you don't like, I get it, but if you're basing the list on political persuasion I was just curious if Hall and Oates have any ties to Republicans as that would surprise me since I've never heard it before. I love a lot of their work myself, especially their impossible-to-classify folk/soul/rockish mid-seventies stuff. And they come across as pretty down-to-earth to me, so I'd be surprised to hear they were Repugs, though I've been surprised before...
