General Anthony C. Zinni for VP?
It looks like General Zinni will be added to next week's MSNBC Vice Presidential poll, and there is this recent article explaining how "some Washington insiders applaud idea of Kerry picking retired Marine general."

The article explains, "were Kerry to choose Zinni, it would reveal a penchant for the unconventional in the Democratic contender." And further that "as a combat veteran and career Marine, Zinni could go a long way toward repairing the Democrats’ chronic shortfall with male voters."

Also, Zinni is an Italian-American, "Zinni could help Kerry appeal to conservative Italian-American voters in states such as Pennsylvania and Florida."

It would be interesting to know of Zinni's home state. Is it Florida?

It sounds like there is more than one general in contention for the vice presidency.

2. Last I heard,
Zinni wasn't even sure who he was going to vote for. Zinni, McCain, anybody but Clark.

Never mind... I misread your post.

I thought you meant Zinni wouldn't vote for Clark. Silly me. You meant that the media is touting anyone but Clark, which is true. That's fine - he's flying under the radar like Leiberman and Gore. :)

And, in response to the thread - Zinni says he absolutely will NOT play politics. Count him out as VP in ANYONE'S party.

3. I'm pretty certain Zinni's home state is Pennsylvania

BIG TIME target state.

The last I read, Zinni had not yet endorsed Bush because he has serious problems with Iraq. Please, feel free to correct me if I've missed something.

However, Zinni is a self-identified "McCain/Lugar/Hagel Republican". I really hope that Kerry picks a Democrat. If he ABSOLUTELY MUST have a rethug, Zinni would be my choice.

The man is smart as a whip, and could devastate Cheney.

Zinni would be a good choice. Wes Clark would FRY THE BRAINS OUT OF THE F**KING Republicans.

For a win, pick Edwards, Zinni or Gephart. For a blowout, Kerry needs General Wesley Clark!

6. Did we run out of democrats?
why must we nominate a republican to win over the clueless white male vote? You would lose more women and liberals than you would gain bush voters. How about appealing to those guys with jobs and healthcare and forgetting about them if that is not good enough?

No republicans on the democratic ticket.

7. I like Zinni but,
He's a Republican.

He said he won't vote for Bush again though if the neocons are still in his administration.

8. I really don't think
it would happen.

First of all, he's a republican.

Second, he said it was a mistake for him getting involved in politics if I remember correctly.

Still, perhaps he could serve some sort of role in a Kerry administration.

9. We've been through this before
Zinni is a Republican Bush lover. That's right, he loves Bush because he gives him a pass on everything and blames the civilians in the Penatgon for everything.

He has said he would gladly vote for Bush if he fired those people. Those bad people.

Enough!

You want a General so bad pick Clark, for chrissakes, he is a fucking 4 Star General and a Democrat to boot. Not only that, he's actually spending his free time working for Kerry, not hawking a book.

discaimer: I don't even want Clark as VP, I want him for Sec. of State or some other cabinet job.

11. Funny that the article touts the 'General' creed...
...without mentioning the one General with a bonafide creed to actually be the VP contender. It talks as if Zinni is the only one prominent enough to be a choice.(a bad choice by the way--Zinni is not pro reproductive rights, and has flatly stated he would not do the VP thing).

God, the media sure is stupid.
