Union members will pitch Kerry door-to-door

BY LEIGH STROPE

WASHINGTON -- Jobs are sending union members to the streets and, labor leaders hope, to the polls in November for Democrat John Kerry.

In labor's largest election mobilization effort so far this year, thousands of union members will knock on tens of thousands of doors starting today in what will be nearly 100 cities by month's end.

They'll talk about the loss of good-paying jobs, the economy, health care and the presidential election.

"This is the earliest walk we've ever done and the largest walk of this magnitude," said Karen Ackerman, the AFL-CIO's political director.

The AFL-CIO is spending a record $44 million on get-out-the-vote efforts

2. We seem to have forgotten...
that Labor has always been the backbone of the Democratic Party. We know "which side our bread is buttered on." We do have many rank and filers who continue to vote "republican," but they are in the minority - they are ill-informed and many are one issue voters. So remember, Buy Union.
