Bill Nelson likes a John-John ticket.
U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, of Florida, also one of those being speculated about for vice president, said Edwards was the favorite and that "a ticket that we can refer to as John-John" would have great appeal. He called himself a 15-to-1 long shot, while he said those who bet on Edwards were fetching only $6 for every $5 bet in Internet casinos.

1. John-John all the way!
Here's another little bit from the article:

-snip-
The results were no surprise to Nan Bozarth, a nurse from Oklahoma who spent $1,000 for the weekend in Hollywood to promote Edwards' vice presidential hopes. Sitting in the front row of the Hollywood Beach band shell at Johnson Street, holding a sign supporting Edwards for vice president, Bozarth talked about why she liked the North Carolinian.

"He has a blend of charisma, skills, good looks and a message that appeals to me. It's a message that appeals to Americans," said Bozarth, who helps moderate a Internet Web site dedicated to Edwards.

2. I want John Edwards to be the VP nominee as well.
I want John Edwards to be the VP nominee as well.

The contrast between Cheney, ex-CEO of Halliburton, and Edwards, who sued big companies on behalf of the poor, would give Americans a clear choice for Vice President.

3. I think this guy hits the nail on the head.
<There were some Saturday who weren't so impressed.

George Maurer, a retired union attorney from Key West, said the one-term senator's résumé was on the light side.

"Yes, he's cute and he gives one good stump speech and he was a good trial lawyer. Is he qualified to be president of the United States? I don't think so. ... We need somebody with more credentials. If Kerry picks him, he should have his head examined.">

5. why Bill Nelson is a longshot
because democrats are already working very hard on a national level to keep bob graham's seat in democratic hands. picking bill nelson would mean jeb bush appoints his replacement (with a republican).

the only thing that would make picking bill nelson worth letting this happen is if there was evidence that the ticket with bill nelson as vp did a lot better than any other ticket. but as we all known that is not the case so it's most likely not worth it. i think this allows allows nelson to be more free in endorsing someone else for vp. and his choice is edwards. bob graham might be more likely to be picked since he is leaving the senate also. but it seems like kerry is looking to edwards to help in florida rather than graham.

7. Seems Bill Nelson is rather fickle!
Several weeks ago, Nelson was making a big push for McCain as Veep!

He was part of the Biden, Bob Kerrey chorus who wanted a Unity Ticket.

11. FL missed it's one great chance to have a good Dem win a statewide race
when it picked McBride over Reno in 2002.

Generally speaking, I don't know how someone perfect is going to rise to the top of FL politics.

By the way, how does where he lives make him a bad guy?

12. I did not say he was a bad guy.
I have concerns about the secrecy of the Fellowship. I know, I know, now I am a conspiracy theorist. No, just concerned about the power of religion mixed with politics. Also Nelson was given an award by the national Chamber of Commerce for voting with corporations 70% of the time.

Read this.

13. That's FL for you. If a guy didn't vote that much for CoC issues, he...
...probably wouldn't be holding state wide office in FL.

I really wish Reno had won that primary.
