I am an Obama supporter who has been trying to stay positive about HC,
but I must say that there is something hard to accept in her word choices in response to Obama's remarks about bitter Americans clinging to religion and guns.

Of the many thousands of legitimate ways to evaluate Obama's remarks, why would a fellow Democrat say that Obama was "demeaning" any of the people of America http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/04/12/AR2008041202094.html ????????

If there are legitimate reasons to criticize Obama's choice of words aren't there also legitimate reasons to criticize Hillary's use of the word "demeaning"?

I have been in favor of the way that the conflict between the candidates forces discussion of the issues. There are many thousands of words HC could have used, many of which COULD have been very powerful and effective in making her point. But, I AM sorry to say that to choose this word demonstrates not only a desire to cause her opponent trouble, but also a lack of concern for any damage she might cause the Democratic party.

I do not wish HC any ill. I don't dislike her personally and have even defended her sometimes here on the DU, but today, I just turned a corner.

1. She doesn't care what the price is or
whether she screws the Dem party or the other candidate, nothing matters, and it's obvious. Her ambition trumps all, and I dare anyone to show me where it hasn't. That for me is grounds to be plum out of respect for her.

6. It would have been soooooooo much better to make a critical point and then
engage the issues that he raised to her own benefit, take it away from him so to speak and turn it to your own benefit by making the same point in more positive terms. It's shocking that she didn't do this. I'm a "tweener" in a large and VERY complex family; I've done this time and time again. It is possible even under the worst of circumstances. I guess it just depends upon what a person REALLY wants more than anything else.

8. It has served as a stark contrast between the candidates.
Barack's message has always been one of hope and change. All the way back to his early days in politics in Chicago. The Clinton campaign has been searching for a message from the get-go and have settled on bashing their opponent. It is as truly a pathetic spectacle.

Hey, don't get me started on my family! Ha, ha. :hi:

7. She is a self serving, power hungry vile woman. This is similar to what she did to Kerry.
And, then she goes further and says that Obama is an elitist. That was just wrong of her to do. It has opened the wound from October 2006 when she stabbed Senator Kerry in the back for leaving the word "us" out of a sentence about Bush because she didn't want to take on a better person than herself. She is doing it this time too, because Senator Obama is better person than her and he really wants to change America for the better, unlike Clinton who is just interested in the power and what it can do for her.

9. Both candidates are out of touch. I'm insulted by Obamas remarks because it came off
Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 10:02 PM by TheGoldenRule
as cavalier, condescending and demeaning.

Hillary pointed it out, and Obama cultists are pissed because she is right.

However, what both candidates don't understand is that the working class can smell the bullshit they have BOTH been dishing out since day one.

NEWSFLASH to DU: Nothing is going to change with either of them in office.

So Obama can wax poetic all he wants about how much hope aka hype he is going to bring to the country, but the reality is that OBAMA IS OWNED BY THE VERY CORPORATIONS that have already screwed over the working class in this country.

And how is Obama going to resolve that quandary exactly?

Is Obama going to give all those MILLIONS OF DOLLARS in corporate donations back? HELL NO!

Meanwhile Hillary is pointing out his bullshit-Good for her. At the VERY least she is being honest for a change. Which is more than can be said about Obama.

20. I agree with you Patrice
It is hard to stay positive with some of the crap flying around. The lies and distortions coming from the Clinton campaign are getting pretty desperate. I voted for her husband twice and even had a decent opinion of them until a few years ago. I've read both of their books as well. Clinton's cozying up to right wing media mogul Rupert Murdoch and her votes on the war did me in though.

I'm just happy I saw the light before the beginning of this campaign. Too bad others aren't able to do the same.
