4. Lived in Allentown from 1995-1999
they were bitter then, as far as anyone here (on DU) saying they arent, should have their head examined, we have been nothing but bitter since election night 2000, and when 71% of the country says we are in the wrong direction it doesnt take a genius to figure out if they are.

12. We just hate the song
The first thing to make us Bitter in Allentown was Billy Joel writing a song about our sister city and making it about us :-)

2. No, I'm not bitter
I get out of bed every morning, roll my sleeves up, and heartily yell: "Thank you, American economy, please keep screwing me over! I love it!" :-)

3. Bitter in what context?
...And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations...

6. Betty Boudda bought some butter....
"But," she said, "This butter's bitter.
If I put this butter in my batter it will make my batter bitter."
So Betty Boudda bought a bit of better butter
and made her bitter batter better!

9. "Bittergate" has actually put me on board with Obama heart and soul
Until now I've been supporting him solely because he is a clean politician. I didn't understand the "hope" message and felt excluded from the soul of his campaign, because -- trite as it sounds -- I have no idealism and very little optimism, and I think I'm justified.

Since 2004:

I have received FOUR chronic disease diagnoses, three of which are potentially life-threatening.

One of these is hypertension. I'm 145/90 and I went through what is called a "mini-stroke" about a year ago. My personal life expectancy has probably dropped 20 years.

I lost a dear friend to Hurricane Katrina.

I lost my dream job.

I saw my net worth go from +$10,000 to -$6,000.

I was forced to abandon a graduate degree because my major professor, who has a personal association with Karl Rove, pulled my funding when he learned of my political involvement in election reform.

I've suffered major depression and tried to commit suicide. Twice.

And I'm 25 years old.

I didn't feel that the Obama message spoke to me, despite my age. I couldn't support Clinton, but my support for Obama was by default, so to speak. No more. This man GETS IT. I am with him because I'm bitter and angry. I guess I haven't given up on everything yet, but anyone who talks down to me and says that I should roll up my sleeves and smile and be happy, is as likely as not to get a punch in the mouth with that fist.

13. I am bitter
My husband has lost his job twice in the past 7 years, both times to off shoring (hear that, Hillary?). The last time he was out of work for just over a year. We had to sell the home we lived in for over 20 years, move thousands of miles away from our kids, to a state I hate, because he could only find work here.

Now, I find out that my job here is being eliminated because of state budget cuts to education. We NEED my salary to help pay our mortgage. I am terrified. Will I have to work at WalMart for minimum wage? It seems whatever we do, we cannot win.

Yes, I am bitter.

14. Bitter? Why. Cause our #1 exports are our Jobs and our Children?
oh no, I'm just gonna pull myself up by my bootstraps.

Let us eat cake!

Hillary $109 Million and McInsane (8 mansions?) aren't bitter,
and neither should we be.

All we need is some faith, and quit blaming our govt for all of these
wars, corporate welfare and exporting our jobs.

I LIKE being poor and not having health care.

Its FUN!

Oh, and I do have guns, although I don't hunt.
