ALERT! June 30th is the deadline for contributing to John Kerry!

I just gave another $50.00. I'd rather donate now than give to the DNC after 6/30. While a lot will get to Kerry from DNC contributions, it all won't. And my highest priority right now is getting Kerry elected. :kick:

I'm still unemployed (will have to look into unemployment assistance
starting next month). Sent him $1500 back when I had money left...
right now wishing I had only sent him $500, but what the hell, I
hope he kicks butt in November.

If I pick up a contract or something soon, I will continue to send
money to MoveOn, Arianna's group, and, of course, DU.

5. I thought the cut-off was after the convention

Liberal Oasis says there are six weeks left. But no harm in getting the money to him early. I'm going to contribute this week and hopefully will be able to again in July.

I understood very clearly that until he accepts the nom at the convention that they could accept donations. Indeed, the big deal that was made re: him delaying accepting was that the convention was the deadline and gave Bush & Co. an extra month NOT an extra two months. Also, this is NOT the understanding I have from our regional rep from the Kerry campaign.

Plus, I have a house party scheduled for July 10th (registered on the Kerry site) and they wanted the fund raising goal, etc.

This does not make sense. (Don't doubt you, but think there has to be some kind of a misunderstanding here.)

Here is part of the letter:

DEAR...,

IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, IT IS VITALLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU RUSH A GENEROUS CONTRIBUTION TO OUR CAMPAIGN BEFORE WE HIT A CRITICAL JUNE 30th DEADLINE.

Maybe it was not a real deadline but the letter made it appear so. The entire letter was in caps, btw.

14. Okay, I got that one too - it's the end of the QUARTER

as in the end of the 2nd quarter when they have to report what they've raised that quarter. It's a "look good" thing, more than anything else. They're trying to get a push before then to get their number up.

Does NOT mean that $$$ can't be raised or spent after that - just won't count for that quarter.

It probably has something to do with matching funds - but there is no freaking way that this is the end to contributing. It may be the last time you can contribute to count as a primary contribution - but I doubt even that - he won't be nominated until late July - what is the source of this....

Because the Kerry campaign keeps talking about the June 30th date, although from everything I understand, you can contribute up until the convention. The 30th must be for something else.
