WASHINGTON, June 16 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following was released today by John Kerry for President:

The NY Daily News today reported that the White House spent $100,000 on a red carpet and walkway for the President's D-Day speech in Normandy a few weeks ago. According to the News, the $100,000 would have otherwise been spent on soldiers.

"You really have to wonder about a President that takes money meant for soldiers and spends it on a vanity set for a speech. With spending habits like these, it's no wonder that the deficit is out of control," said Kerry Spokesman Phil Singer.

WHITE HOUSE SPENDS $100,000 ON A RED CARPET FOR GEORGE BUSH: White House aides advancing President Bush (news - web sites)'s Normandy visit ordered the Pentagon (news - web sites) to erect a $100,000 platform for his entry into a U.S. military cemetery. American taxpayers picked up the six-figure tab for the red carpet, walkway and artificial island hurriedly built over a memorial pool so that Bush and French President Jacques Chirac could walk in style to the dais for last week's ceremony commemorating the 60th anniversary of the D-Day landings. 1. Let's talk about Kerry's haircut, it is much more interesting...
Remember all the hay that was made about Kerry's haircut? What was the price tag? $100.00? And Kerry paid for it himself right? So why isn't this story splattered all over the news?

3. Okay, press, we'll run through it one more time....
Wednesday: "No, we didn't."

Thursday: "John Kerry is a liar and he faked his war record and his wife had an affair on him and flip-flop-flip-flop Hillary!"

Friday: "Well, it might be true in the technical sense. Did we mention Kerry has genital herpes?"

Monday: "Look--over there!"
