Democracy for Indiana ... "rebuilding the party from the bottom up."
http://www.democracyforindiana.com/

This is a featured state website which is getting organized. It has a good start. It shows what Howard Dean is trying to get started, knowing it will take a long time. It will mean not winning a lot as well. These guys who set this up deserve kudos. Please not they are not a threat to Kerry, they are just working in a new and different way.

Democracy for Indiana
Democracy for Indiana is an Indiana state-wide grassroots organization committed to supporting socially responsible, fiscally conservative candidates and promoting sustained grassroots involvement in the democratic process.

Democracy for America has made its mark at the Indiana State Convention.

Last Saturday, DFA inspired Democracy for Indiana held its first caucus at the Indiana Democratic State Convention. Over 100 people including 2 state representatives attended their session. Shaw Friedman, former state coordinator for the Dean campaign, began the caucus by outlining the goals of the state group, which include working to support local candidates and helping Indiana's Governor Kernan win against former Bush OMB director Mitch Daniels. Other speakers covered a range of topics from 21st Century Democratic training sessions to Hispanic outreach.

Afterwards all convention attendees were invited to a DFI sponsored fundraising party at a local pub. The party was a great success with funds being raised for not only DFI, but also Indiana Dean Dozen candidate Patrick McCormick and Monroe County Commissioner candidate Mike Englert.

With a great start like this, Democracy for Indiana is well on its way to becoming a formidable force in Indiana politics.

- Shaw Friedman, Eldon Robison, Scott Alber and Tom Fellrath of DFI

2. Another state website getting off the ground, AS. Georgia for Democracy.
http://www.georgiafordemocracy.org/

It is exceptionally well-done.
I also hope the goals of DFA will be met, but I think it will take a long time.

4. We also had a great caucus at the Texas convention this weekend
Several hundred people attended and heard a number of speakers including David Van Os, candidate for Texas Supreme Court and a member of Dean's Dozen.

The next day 250 or more people packed into a workshop on grassroots organizing conducted by DFT.

7. Thanks. Kudos to the very dedicated and hard working folks
who maintain our site and coordinate Democracy for Texas. Hard to believe they can do that and also have real jobs and lives but somehow they manage. After this weekend I am very hopeful for the future of our state and the role that DFT will play here.
