RNC attacks Dean and Kerry for being divisive
Dean said he and Farmer, unlike the Republicans in power, both understand the importance of balancing budgets and pinching pennies. "The Republicans don't manage money. They spend it and borrow," he said, citing record-setting federal deficits of President George W. Bush's administration. "The only president who has balanced the budget in 30 years is Bill Clinton. . . . If it takes a liberal to balance the budget, we need one in office as fast as we can."

Republican National Committee spokesman David James replied that such comments were part of Dean's "recurring pattern of using divisive language."

James said such talk had been borrowed by the likely Democratic presidential nominee, Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts. Indeed, James asserted that Dean already had reshaped his party's image and message by moving it to the left. "It's Howard Dean's ideas that represent the face of the Democratic Party," James said.

As an example, state Republican Party spokesman Paul Sloca asserted that Dean, while governor, "signed the first state law on same-sex unions giving gay couples rights to inherit property from each other, obtain child custody and control a partner's affairs upon death.

Who the hell is the RNC kidding. There are some people trying to divide the nation with their language between blacks and whites, the rich and poor, Arabs and Christians, and it sure as hell is not Dean and Kerry. f***ers.

5. Yah
All that talk about balanced budgets is just sooo divisive! Wow what a "wedge" issue. I can't think of anything that divides Americans as much as pushing for balancing the budget.

ROFLMAO, they are morons.

4. OMG! No....
Gov. Dean "signed the first state law on same-sex unions"? What the hell was he thinking? </sarcasm> The RNC should get this news out to as many people as possible, especially when one considers that most people support these rights for same-sex couples.

9. Sounds to be like the GOP doesn't like the truth...
That they ARE the new "Borrow and Spend" republicans and it goes against everything their party represented in the past. Plus it really gets them that Howard Dean is saying it.

So their only defense is to try to connect Dean to Kerry and translate some of the GOP dislike of Dean onto Kerry as being liberal.

Well...guess what...they are the new "Borrow and Spend" Republicans. They should listen to their own John McCain and maybe they would be saying that Kerry is borrowing from McCain, who is also against their new policy of "borrow and spend" under Bush.

And if a fiscal conservatism is the new face of the Democratic party, then what in the world is the GOP trying to be?

12. Oh my, a "civil union" law--how radical!
The Republicans are missing the point that civil unions don't shock the majority any more. Too bad for them. A positive thing from the marriage debate is that many, many conservatives say "let them have the same rights, just call it something else." Gov. Dean was right in line with these sensibilities. We've come a long way since 2000...

Enemy, Commie bastards?!" Oh ... :eyes:

I love how Dean uses these talking points to get across his message. He's great at playing their bs game and winning.

Say it with me now!! "BORROW AND SPEND REPUBLICANS, BORROW AND SPEND REPUBLICANS, BORROW AND SPEND ..... "

17. Divisive, give me a break
Let's see. Republicans who run up the federal debt think it's divisive when Democrats call them "borrow and spend" Republicans but it's ok for them to call Democrats "tax and spend Democrats." Right!

Seems like the GOP can dish it out but it can't take it.

21. What?

"James asserted that Dean already had reshaped his party's image and message by moving it to the left. 'It's Howard Dean's ideas that represent the face of the Democratic Party,' James said."

Obviously since they can't think of anything to attack Kerry on, they've moved to attacking their first love and wet dream of a candidate. Dean can take anything they can dish out and take a little heat off Kerry too. He was born for this,

d
