Tom Daschle
You may not like Tom Daschle, but there is no way the Democrats can get 51 seats without him winning in November.

Daschle's Republican opponent has raised more money.

Please support Tom Daschle to help us win 51.

1. Is this one of those cases where you have to hold your nose and
do something that rubs you the wrong way? I guess. But he is one of the most ineffectual "party leaders" I have seen in my life.

2. i like Daschle, one has to consider he comes from a Republican state
but the democrats are pretty smart and have managed to put members of the minority party in both senate seats and the one house seat they have. daschle helped in getting jim jeffords to switch. he also helped tim johnson and stephanie herseth win their elections. and his record is not that bad when you consider the state he is from.

but his achievements are few and far between. He's way too timid to be the senate majority or minority leader.

We need a senate minority (hopefully majority afte Nov) leader to be from from a safe blue state. Daschle is a decent guy and I definetely hope he keeps his seat in the senate, but his tenure as the party leader in the senate has been mediocre at best.

4. then we may lose south dakota senate seats
one of the reasons tim johnson won was because a democratic controlled senate would mean their guy (tom daschle) would be leader of the senate. and for a small state like south dakota that's a huge thing for them. and i imagine it will be a big part of daschle's re-election campaign this year also. vote for daschle to keep south dakotan in leadership position.
